“As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins.” I tell you the truth,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
(Lk 21, 1-4)
This widow’s example comes to show us as we should trust the Lord entirely that He does and He can everything. A lot of people deposited great quantities because they were very rich people, but they deposited their surplus, while that poor widow deposited “everything ” she had. My God, what a trust! The beauty was that the Lord saw the heart of that widow, the honesty in her gesture. She didn’t worry about her support, with certainty she brought in her heart a great trust in the “God it will provide “.
Nobody is so poor that doesn’t have what to give!
Jesus saw her intention, its truth. He saw that that gesture came from her heart, it was everything that she had, and there it was deposited.
Lord, teach each one of us on this day, to have a deep trust in your Divine Providence and not to be retaining the things with us while many need our help. Lord, teach to each one of us to live on this day, the generosity of that widow and may we believe that the necessary day by day for us, it is You who gives us.
Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make our heart similar to Your!
