Some people compare the addictive power of pornography to drug addiction like cocaine<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pornography has a devastating effect on the human brain, because \u00a0images are engraved in our minds and are with us for years or for life.\u00a0Some compare its addictive power to drugs like cocaine.\u00a0Interestingly, a simple look at pictures, porn videos and sexy photos can inoculate, in our mind, a constant effect, ie, just close your eyes and have access to what was seen recorded.<\/p>\n

I remember that, unfortunately, my present seven years of life, that’s right, 7 years (a child!) Was a pornographic magazine given by my godfather.\u00a0I say to you that today,that the magazines scenes are still in my mind, hence the devastating power of pornography.\u00a0Of course, today, by a process of self-knowledge and a lot of prayer before God, these scenes do not control me anymore, because I choose to look at my future wife seeking the purity of which I am called to live.But for a long time, the “ideal” woman and love that was in my mind was that magazine.<\/p>\n

Pornography is not only a sin, but it is a profound distortion of a real man and a real woman really is.Pornography creates the illusion of pleasure, the disposition of the other as a gift and subject of dignity.\u00a0Pornography creates the fantasy that man is a machine to be manipulated in obtaining maximum pleasure, whatever the cost.<\/p>\n

You see the body (often modified by the ‘Photoshop’ or the most modern means of video editing), but do not realize the heart.<\/p>\n

If you are addicted to porn, I wish to draw your attention to the illusion that you will never have in real life, the promise of that magazine and that video.\u00a0This addiction will play on the bitterness of unfulfilled desires and thus you will lose the promise of a dignified human life of respect and giving.\u00a0It will take from you the ability to truly love, for it will make your eyes and mind stop on what is empty and mounted.Unfortunately, many parents (in my case, the godfather) encourage their children, especially men, to view pornographic material. That is sad! In fact, we are not being educated for true love, but for the illusion that pleasure will respond to the anguish of our hearts!\u00a0No…<\/p>\n

What if my child is already addicted to pornography?<\/strong>\u00a0What to do?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A good conversation is the beginning. Talk to him about the motivations that led him to access such material.\u00a0Spend time with him, speak of the reality of love and open the eyes of your child to the lie and illusion that pornography creates.\u00a0Show him how this dehumanizes the lives of women and men who make themselves “porn” artists.\u00a0And for the single pornographic image forever branded in his mind.\u00a0Ask him if he wants to do this with his future wife and mother of his children that he sees done to the women in the magazine or on film.<\/p>\n

Research has shown that adolescents exposed to pornography with traumatic emotional responses, sexual intercourse at an early age, an increased risk of sexually transmitted diseases and developing sexual compulsions and perversions.\u00a0Not to mention romantic relationships that are only objective, namely, the human being as an object and not subject.\u00a0Sex for sex!<\/p>\n

Let a few tips to make porn addiction:<\/p>\n

1 – Assume that you are wounded<\/strong><\/p>\n

Many people think that pornography is harmless or just a satisfaction of curiosity. No ! We are visual, and images enter our brain doing real damage.\u00a0You need to take such weakness, face that you have no control regarding this, because only then will you know how much has been done and how big is the wound!<\/p>\n

2 – Seek help<\/strong><\/p>\n

There is no way want to win alone.\u00a0After accepting the problem, it is time to seek help.\u00a0Find someone emotionally mature, with whom you can open up, saying your weaknesses.\u00a0A good spiritual director and confessor help a lot!\u00a0Sin is overcome in confession!\u00a0Sometimes even a process of therapy is helpful, if your addiction is very rooted.<\/p>\n

3 – Arming<\/strong><\/p>\n

I said above about people and help, but you must, for your part, arm yourself.\u00a0Have a life of prayer and sacraments, read the Word of God and seek the Eucharist.\u00a0The worship of Jesus in the Eucharist is also a good remedy.\u00a0Standing there for a few minutes, seeing the Lord and having Him touch your mind and your desires will gradually clean up the mess that went through his eyes.<\/p>\n

4 – Firm Decision<\/strong><\/p>\n

There is no way to win the battle sleeping with the enemy.\u00a0You need to get rid of any possibility of pornography.\u00a0Throw out magazines, movies, pictures etc..\u00a0Sometimes it’s necessary to break from what motivates people to addiction.\u00a0You can not, in the midst of war, stay in enemy territory!<\/p>\n

5 – Always Vigilant<\/strong><\/p>\n

We know and feel when you’re about to fall into sin.\u00a0Has not this happened to you “I did not know that was going to give in.”\u00a0No one falls out of nowhere onto the precipice.\u00a0It is always one step at a time.\u00a0What are your weaknesses?\u00a0When are you weakest?\u00a0Know this and becoming vigilant at these times, avoid the downfall.<\/p>\n

6 – Not feeling sin<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sometimes, in the struggle against sin, people become obsessed and think up what they feel is sin.\u00a0Not so!\u00a0Sin is “consent” and not “feeingl”.\u00a0When I see a beautiful woman, feel her beauty get in my eyes.\u00a0This is not a sin.\u00a0Sin is when I picked up this beauty, which came into me, and handle, and wish to let it dominate my thoughts.\u00a0However, what I can do, to feel it, is to praise God for my living and active affection, praise Him for the beauty of creation and the creature.\u00a0Channeling the desire for God!<\/p>\n
