without color and without reason, become longer. In these cases, medical intervention is needed, as well as psychological support for the person to restructure their thoughts and discover their way of dealing with illness and life. We also know that spirituality has an important role in overcoming any illness, including depression.

Let us not forget that many times in our family, in society and among our friends there is still a difficulty to understand the situation in which a depressed person is going through. Also for the person suffering from depression, it is not an easy task to accept disease and treatment. The most important is that treatments exist, and believing in resilience and improvement is an essential step for both the patient and for those who live with them. The depression may last for several months or be more persistent; In both cases, patients can rely on the expert help, so that the sensations can be minimized and higher quality of life can be obtained.

As hard as it is or however great the shame or feeling that is keeping you from taking steps to healing, be sure to seek help. A friend, a family member, the doctor who already knows a little of your health can be the first to whom you can ask for help when they realize that this picture of gloom is taking a bit more time, giving signs that go beyond the usual.

Elaine Ribeiro dos Santos

Elaine Ribeiro, Clinical and Organizational Psychologist, contributor to the Canção Nova Community. Blog: temasempsicologia.wordpress.com Twitter:elaineribeirosp

Portuguese Version

Treatments exist, and to credit the resilience and improvement is an essential step We live in a rhythm of activities and demands in a society that increasingly runs for results and success.
