{"id":15531,"date":"2014-11-07T01:01:11","date_gmt":"2014-11-07T06:01:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.cancaonova.com\/catholicismanew\/?p=15531"},"modified":"2014-11-07T07:36:21","modified_gmt":"2014-11-07T12:36:21","slug":"why-do-we-give-thanks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.cancaonova.com\/catholicismanew\/2014\/11\/07\/why-do-we-give-thanks\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Do We Give Thanks?"},"content":{"rendered":"<hgroup class=\"content-header\">\n<h1 class=\" entry-title \"><strong>November is time to give thanks to God<\/strong><\/h1>\n<\/hgroup>\n<div id=\"content-post\">\n<article id=\"post-8744\" class=\"post-8744 post type-post status-publish format-standard has-post-thumbnail hentry category-palavra-do-mes\">\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\">This month has within it the beginning of the Advent of the Church when the faithful are invited to the great clamor: <em>&#8220;Come, Lord Jesus!&#8221;\u00a0<\/em>Already anticipating the Christmas holidays.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\">Many dates are celebrated this month.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">I highlight here the day of thanksgiving, celebrated worldwide in November.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">And we have much to give thanks to God, every event and need can become an offering of thanksgiving.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">The letters of St. Paul often begin and end with thanksgiving: <em>&#8220;Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you&#8221;<\/em> (1 Thessalonians 5: 18).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/img.cancaonova.com\/cnimages\/especiais\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2014\/11\/por-que-dar-gra%C3%A7as-a-Deus.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8746\" src=\"http:\/\/img.cancaonova.com\/cnimages\/especiais\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2014\/11\/por-que-dar-gra%C3%A7as-a-Deus.jpg\" alt=\"Why give thanks to God\" width=\"750\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<span class=\"notranslate\">In the US, the day of\u00a0Thanksgiving is known as Thanksgiving Day, the day when the people give thanks for the good events of the year with prayers and celebrations with family.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">They do something remarkable in remembrance of its history.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">In 1620, out of England, the Mayflower ship took on board many families toward the American continent.<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">Disembarking, they had to face many difficulties as the cold, wild beasts, the dangers of all sorts, but they were not discouraged, because they trusted in God&#8217;s promises.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">They houses\u00a0cabins for shelter and sowed the ground with great confidence.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">The Native Americans, knowing the earth, taught them to improve production.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">And God blessed them.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">In the fall of 1621, the harvest was so blessed that they gathered the best fruits and invited the Native Americans\u00a0to celebrate a great festival of praise and thanksgiving to God.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">The Brazilian ambassador Joaquim Nabucco, participating in Washington,D.C.
