{"id":15536,"date":"2014-11-05T01:01:26","date_gmt":"2014-11-05T06:01:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.cancaonova.com\/catholicismanew\/?p=15536"},"modified":"2014-11-05T11:42:15","modified_gmt":"2014-11-05T16:42:15","slug":"let-us-have-in-our-heart-the-same-attitude-of-christ","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.cancaonova.com\/catholicismanew\/2014\/11\/05\/let-us-have-in-our-heart-the-same-attitude-of-christ\/","title":{"rendered":"Let Us Have in our Heart The Same Attitude of Christ"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"notranslate\"><strong><span lang=\"pt-PT\">We must have in our hearts the desire to have the same feelings that the Lord had.<\/span><\/strong><\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"><strong><span lang=\"pt-PT\">And that means, first and foremost, to be stripped.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span class=\"notranslate\"><span lang=\"pt-PT\"><em>&#8220;My brethren, be among you the same feeling that is in Christ Jesus&#8221;<\/em> (Philippians 2.5).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span class=\"notranslate\"><span lang=\"pt-PT\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.cancaonova.com\/catholicismanew\/files\/2014\/07\/santissimo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-15139 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.cancaonova.com\/catholicismanew\/files\/2014\/07\/santissimo-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"santissimo\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>The Word of God in Paul&#8217;s Letter to the Philippians, described in the reading of yesterday&#8217;s\u00a0Mass, invites us to look upon\u00a0our view of\u00a0Christ Jesus our Lord.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"><span lang=\"pt-PT\">I call this to your attention, for this\u00a0proclamation of this Word is made \u200b\u200bwell when it is done before the crucifix.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"><span lang=\"pt-PT\">Looking at the crucified Jesus, we learn from Him what we should be!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span class=\"notranslate\"><span lang=\"pt-PT\">Have the same attitude\u00a0of Jesus means, first and foremost, to be stripped of oneself, i,e., to deprive oneself of oneself, the virtues you have or think you really have, the rights, honors and glories.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0To have\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\"><span lang=\"pt-PT\">the mind of Christ is to take humbly that you are less than would like to be: less loved, less valued, less recognized.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"><span lang=\"pt-PT\">You assume the poverty of spirit that Our Lord took upon Himself, because being divine, with God as the Father is, He did not avail of this equality;<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"><span lang=\"pt-PT\">quite the contrary, He emptied himself of His condition and took on the human condition, practically a slave.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span class=\"notranslate\"><span lang=\"pt-PT\">Emptying oneself does not mean to become an empty person, but to take upon oneself all evil, every perversion that pride and arrogance cause within us.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Arrogance\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\"><span lang=\"pt-PT\">sharpens our inner self-perception to make us feel more important, better than others.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"notranslate\"><span lang=\"pt-PT\">That sad reality of pride that leads us to be selfish, Not to be wanting to share what we have with others and even despise, devalue and belittle the other person.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"><span lang=\"pt-PT\">We are full of us, of our pride often injured of our vanities, our own will and our desires.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span class=\"notranslate\"><span lang=\"pt-PT\">To get closer to Jesus Christ, we must have in our hearts the desire to have the feelings that He has!<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"><span lang=\"pt-PT\">Yes, let us pray to the Lord: &#8220;Make me poor and deprived, make me stop clinging to\u00a0my stuff, and make me free to love Him first, loving my neighbor.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Let me\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\"><span lang=\"pt-PT\">leave myself to meet the other. &#8220;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span class=\"notranslate\"><span lang=\"pt-PT\">Humility, the dispossession, the emptying of Jesus help us emptying ourselves of our sins, and vain glory of glories, and cling only to the cross of Jesus!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span class=\"notranslate\"><span lang=\"pt-PT\">God bless you!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\">Fr.
