{"id":15796,"date":"2015-02-23T01:01:44","date_gmt":"2015-02-23T06:01:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.cancaonova.com\/catholicismanew\/?p=15796"},"modified":"2015-02-06T08:54:46","modified_gmt":"2015-02-06T13:54:46","slug":"take-possession-of-the-anointing-of-the-spirit-in-your-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.cancaonova.com\/catholicismanew\/2015\/02\/23\/take-possession-of-the-anointing-of-the-spirit-in-your-life\/","title":{"rendered":"Take Possession of the Anointing of  the Spirit in Your Life."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"socialmedia-top\">\n<div class=\"addthis_toolbox addthis_default_style addthis_16x16_style\">\n<div class=\"atclear\"><strong>It is not enough to be anointed, we must take possession of this anointing, you need to have the Spirit really inebriate our whole being, our whole life and all our hearts!<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p lang=\"pt-PT\"><span class=\"notranslate\"><em>&#8220;The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath consecrated me with the anointing to preach good news to the poor&#8221;<\/em> (Luke 4: 18).<\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"pt-PT\"><span class=\"notranslate\">Jesus returned to Galilee moved by the Holy Spirit, and there \u00a0He even returns to his city, Nazareth, there he opens the scroll from the prophet Isaiah, just where it is said that the Spirit of God is upon him. It is the Spirit who moves Jesus Who leads Him. He guides and illuminates the Lord to carry out His mission.<\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"pt-PT\"><span class=\"notranslate\">Two things need to happen to us.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">The first is that we need to let the Spirit take care of us, that He take hold of us, to take the direction and to lead\u00a0our lives.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">This may not seem to be simple, in fact, it is not, but it is necessary.<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">There needs to be on our part a surrender of our thoughts, feelings and affections to the light and lead of the Spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"pt-PT\"><span class=\"notranslate\">And the second thing that needs to happen, as we yield to the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete, is that we need to do what Jesus did today: take hold of the life of the Spirit in us!<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">The same Spirit that rests on Jesus, standing over him, is also the Spirit who consecrated us and anointed!<\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"pt-PT\"><span class=\"notranslate\">I with\u00a0with great pleasure, do the anointing of children by baptizing them!<\/span>\u00a0It may b<span class=\"notranslate\">e the anointing with the oil of catechumens, anointing across your chest to leave that indelible mark of God&#8217;s action in them;<\/span>\u00a0it\u00a0<span class=\"notranslate\">is the anointing with chrism oil, I do this on the forehead.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">It is not the amount of oil that matters, but rather the belief that it [the oil] that communicates this grace of the Spirit, the anointing of God, I ask, in each baptism I realize, that there is born a baptized and anointed child by the Spirit of God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"pt-PT\"><span class=\"notranslate\">I&#8217;m talking about me and you, because one day we were also baptized, consecrated, anointed by that same Spirit.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">And as we need to take possession of the anointing God has given us!<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">Not enough to be anointed, we must take possession of this anointing, you need to have the Spirit really inebrie our whole being, our whole life and all our hearts!<\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"pt-PT\"><span class=\"notranslate\">I want a purpose for this year and I want to invite you to also do it: we allow the Spirit&#8217;s anointing inebrie our actions and our attitudes.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">You may ask, &#8220;What anointing, Father?&#8221; The anointing of our baptism, our chrism, the anointing you received in every prayer, every invocation in which we ask the Spirit to come upon us.<\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"pt-PT\"><span class=\"notranslate\">May the Spirit, who led the footsteps of Jesus, also lead our steps!<\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"pt-PT\"><span class=\"notranslate\">God bless you!<\/span><\/p>\n<footer id=\"entry-author-info\">\n<div class=\"entry_author_image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/homilia.cancaonova.com\/wp-content\/authors\/3_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"notranslate\">Father Roger Araujo<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/homilia.cancaonova.com\/homilia\/tome-posse-da-uncao-do-espirito-santo-em-sua-vida\/\">Portuguese Version<\/a><\/p>\n<\/footer>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is not enough to be anointed, we must take possession of this anointing, you need to have the Spirit really inebriate our whole being, our whole life and all our hearts!
