{"id":16297,"date":"2015-05-18T01:01:35","date_gmt":"2015-05-18T06:01:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.cancaonova.com\/catholicismanew\/?p=16297"},"modified":"2015-05-16T05:22:33","modified_gmt":"2015-05-16T10:22:33","slug":"what-is-the-gift-of-tongues-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.cancaonova.com\/catholicismanew\/2015\/05\/18\/what-is-the-gift-of-tongues-2\/","title":{"rendered":"What Is the Gift of Tongues?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"notranslate\"><strong>The Lord gives the gift of tongues for all<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\">At Pentecost, the disciples together with Mary, filled with the Holy Spirit and began to pray, praise and sing in the new language of the Spirit, the first gift to be expressed.<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">Some have interpreted the event and said: &#8220;They praise God, are singing the praises of the Lord, and we&#8217;re understanding with the heart.&#8221;<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">Others were there curious jokingly mocking, saying that the disciples were drunk.<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">Peter explained: &#8220;We are not drunk;<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">on the contrary, we are fulfilling the prophecy of Joel. &#8220;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\">When we are baptized in the Holy Spirit, the first thing that fills us is prayer, because the Spirit of the Lord is the link between the Father and the Son, and the prayer is communication between Them;<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">the Son who speaks to the Father and the Father speaking to the Son.<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">The beauty of intimacy that happens within the Trinity is made by the Paraclete;<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">and this is prayer.<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">In addition, he is the link between God and us.<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">The prayer that comes and goes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\">When we are introduced to the Spirit of God, we are left full of prayer, because the Paraclete is a fiery <\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">unfailing<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\"> prayer,\u00a0 <b>We give the fuel that is our air.;<\/b><\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\"><b>We move our vocal cords, mouth and tongue;<\/b><\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\"><b>We generate sounds.<\/b><\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\"><b>And what happens?<\/b><\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\"><b>The Holy Spirit prays, speaks and sings in us.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\">You can not imagine the value of this prayer!<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">Are not we just praying, but it is the Spirit of God praying for us!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\">What happens in the gift of tongues?<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">Who kicks in is not our intelligence.<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">We move the vocal cords, let out the air, we have stirred the tongue, mouth and produce sound;<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">but the content comes from the Holy Spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Also read: Pray for the Holy Spirit\" href=\"https:\/\/translate.googleusercontent.com\/translate_c?act=url&amp;depth=1&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;prev=_t&amp;rurl=translate.google.com&amp;sl=pt-BR&amp;tl=en&amp;u=http:\/\/padrejonas.cancaonova.com\/mensagem-do-dia\/vamos-rezar-pedindo-o-espirito-santo\/&amp;usg=ALkJrhhZnpckWVqvblz0LXj2dJKuIDJKBA\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-24820 alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/img.cancaonova.com\/cnimages\/especiais\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/05\/o_que_e_o_dom_de_linguas-600x450.jpg\" alt=\"o_que_e_o_dom_de_linguas\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><br \/>\n<\/a><span class=\"notranslate\"><sup>Photo: Wesley Almeida<\/sup><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\">St. Paul explains it in Romans 8:26:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><i>&#8220;Likewise the Spirit also helps us in our weakness; for we do not know to pray as we ought;<\/i><\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\"><i>but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs too deep. &#8220;<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\">This explanation is quite simple: sighs too deep, or groans that can not be understood, unless God gives the interpretation.<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">When you pray for your son or daughter, do you know exactly what they need?<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">No. That&#8217;s why the Holy Spirit comes to our aid, we do not know what to ask for or know how to pray as we ought.<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"> He h<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">imself intercedes for us and for us with sighs too deep.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\">Hence, the wonders happen, because it is the Paraclete praying within us, for us.<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">St. Paul continues:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><i>&#8220;And he who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit;<\/i><\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\"><i>Indeed, it is according to God that the Spirit intercedes for the saints.<\/i><\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\"><i>(Rom 8.27).<\/i><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Therefore, He knows our needs and presents the Father who only meet us if we ask is for our good and according to the desires of the Spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\"><b>When we pray in the Spirit, He first makes intercession to God according to our need;<\/b><\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\"><b>thereafter; <\/b><\/span><span class=\"notranslate\"><b>according to what the Lord knows, that considers it as the best.<\/b><\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\"><b>Therefore, praying in tongues is indefectable; <\/b><\/span><span class=\"notranslate\"><b>hence its value.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\">In praying in tongues, the Lord humbles us and tells us: &#8220;Put aside, for now I will act.<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">Do not hinder me. &#8220;<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">And the Lord comes into play through the Spirit.<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">When we pray in tongues, we do not have the enjoyment of our senses, our sense nor our intelligence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\">It is through prayer in languages \u200b\u200bwe approach God.<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">Only then the transformation begins to take place in our hearts, in our lives, the lives of those we love.<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">It is for the gifts of the Spirit and its fruits that the world begins to be renewed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\">God wants this grace for everyone!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\"><i>Article excerpted from the book &#8220;Aspirai aos Dons Espirituais&#8221;
