{"id":16593,"date":"2015-07-28T01:01:33","date_gmt":"2015-07-28T06:01:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.cancaonova.com\/catholicismanew\/?p=16593"},"modified":"2015-07-28T09:08:09","modified_gmt":"2015-07-28T14:08:09","slug":"idolatry-takes-our-heart-from-the-presence-of-god","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.cancaonova.com\/catholicismanew\/2015\/07\/28\/idolatry-takes-our-heart-from-the-presence-of-god\/","title":{"rendered":"Idolatry Takes Our Heart from the Presence of God"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"western\"><span class=\"notranslate\"><strong>May God deliver us from this terrible evil, eternal damnation for letting our hearts be attached to the goods of this world and the act of transforming goods, people, and what we want in idols and put them in the place of God.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\"><em>&#8220;Moses went back to the Lord and said, &#8216;Ah!<\/em><\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"><em>this people has sinned a very great sin: they have made for \u200b\u200bthem gods of gold.<\/em><\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"><em>I beg you to forgive you this guilt &#8216;&#8221;(Exodus<\/em> 32: 31-32).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\">Moses was on the sacred mountain and received from the hands of God Himself the Tablets of the Covenant or the Ten Commandments.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">This prophet descends with a unique joy in his heart to show to the people what the Lord our God had commanded him [the Tablets, the Tablets of life].<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">However, when Moses comes, what a disappointment to find all his people transgressing, wrapped in orgies and idolatry and, with that his &#8220;calm and quiet&#8221; temperament leaves him and [Tables of the Law] plays out to be deeply disappointed with his people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\">And what was the sin of the people?<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">It was to leave the God who led them and brought them out of slavery in Egypt, who led them by the hand to the Promised Land and then they returned\u00a0their hearts to other gods.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">Those people carved with gold, with bronze and metals idols to worship.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\">Idolatry was a terrible sin that people commited.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">Let me say to your heart, nothing grieves the heart of God than to leave He who is the true God &#8211; to worship Him and turn to Him to construct other idols.<\/span>\u00a0T<span class=\"notranslate\">his is a grave sin to replace God with the gods of this world!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\"><strong>How many times, is money in our life a true idol.<\/strong><\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"><strong>Can anyone say that with money, we get everything we want.<\/strong><\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"><strong>On the other hand, we also lose\u00a0everything we need.<\/strong><\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">Because with it [money] we have all the material that we can seek, with it, but we can also lose everything that is God&#8217;s grace in our lives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"notranslate\">We cannot allow money to enslave us, nor to become a god in our life!<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">We can not prostrate ourselves before it.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">And we know that this happens when it steals our time, when it robs us of God and the strips away direction and the way of the Lord.
