However, Catholic youth called to be as radical as Christ are exactly the opposite. We are called not to destroy but to build up. Not to take another&#8217;s life, but to give of ourselves. Adriano Gon\u00e7alves touches on this in his column for Revolu\u00e7\u00e3o Jesus, a youth based movement from Can\u00e7\u00e3o Nova in Brazil.\u2014.ed<\/em>]<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.cancaonova.com\/revolucaojesus\/files\/2015\/07\/fera-300x157.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"157\" \/>In times where being called radical does not resound very well, I decided to throw a question on Twitter:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\">&#8220;What it means to be radical in [the Catholic] faith?&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\">The crowd reacted quickly and sent many took these answers:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\"><b><i>&#8220;For me, it is seeking an authentic life, rooted in the Truth and which have as a consequence a great enthusiasm for living!&#8221;<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\"><b><i>&#8220;The radical term derives from the Latin radix, meaning&#8221; root &#8220;.<\/i><\/b><\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"><b><i>In this case the root of faith. &#8220;<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\"><b><i>&#8220;Radical faith &#8230; is more than practical and spiritual exercises!<\/i><\/b><\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"><b><i>To be radical is to have roots!<\/i><\/b><\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\"><b><i>And faith &#8230; is paradoxically BE FREE &#8220;<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><b><i><\/i><\/b><strong>&#8220;To give oneself completely into the arms of Jesus&#8221; #tobeRadical #inFaith<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\">I see it is this very thing that everybody said.<\/span>\u00a0The word &#8220;<span class=\"notranslate\">Radical&#8221; has its origin in the Latin radix term that means: root, foundation, origin.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">What does that mean?<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">It&#8217;s simple!<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">When you ask someone to be radical you want this person to go to the root of that with which he is involved, i.e., a radical Christian is one who goes to the root (base, foundation) of your Christian life that is Jesus Christ!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\">You know that song, &#8220;To love as Jesus loved, dream like Jesus dreamed &#8230; live as Jesus lived&#8221; that&#8217;s right.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">To be radical is to be another Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\">And you think this is not radical?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\">Caramba! It is very radical.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\">Jesus invited the rejected.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\">Welcomed the despised.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\">He believed the discredited &#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\">This is to be radical.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\">I see that now the need to raise a radical youth that have one\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"notranslate\">desire: To be another Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\">Love and surrender to Jesus to the point that we can say with Paul:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\">&#8220;It is not I who live, but Christ who lives in me&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\">Think of this truth &#8230; that changes everything.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\">Today lifted with this desire: To be radical, keep the roots.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">Be another Christ &#8230; The world needs this said, a lot of people who read a bible &#8230; how about proposing living our life with a living Gospel?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\">I&#8217;m in and are you?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\">Let commented here if you are you in or not.<\/span> <span class=\"notranslate\">But start acting soon &#8230; Send this post to your youth group your friends, your college, family &#8230; And let&#8217;s raise a radical Catholic youth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\">Tamu Together<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span class=\"notranslate\"><a href=\"https:\/\/translate.googleusercontent.com\/translate_c?act=url&amp;depth=1&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;prev=_t&amp;rurl=translate.google.com&amp;sl=pt-BR&amp;tl=en&amp;u=http:\/\/twitter.com\/adriano_rvj&amp;usg=ALkJrhiwtXrllq3teGbJSGAFDAoOQ-hhWA\" target=\"_blank\">Adriano Gon\u00e7alves<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[Many times we hear of radicalized youth who are committed to violence.
