Are you<\/span><span lang=\"en\"> distressed when no one likes your photo and extremely accomplished when you realize a &#8216; red dot &#8216; there\u00a0in facebook notifications? <\/span><span lang=\"en\">Can&#8217;t live without being in part of\u00a0several groups of &#8220;friends&#8221; online? <\/span><span lang=\"en\">If the answer is Yes, you may be showing symptoms of what experts call a &#8220;digital narcissism&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-80713\" src=\"http:\/\/img.cancaonova.com\/cnimages\/canais\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2015\/09\/formacao_como-perceber-se-sou-narcisista-digital-600x450.jpg\" alt=\"Como perceber se sou narcisista digital\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><br \/>\n<sup>Photo: Daniel Mafra\/cancaonova.com<\/sup><\/p>\n<h2>What is narcissism?<\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">Greek mythology tells us of a young man with immeasurable beauty called Narcissus, that seeing\u00a0his beautiful reflected image in the waters of a lake he fell in love with himself and ended up being engulfed by\u00a0his own beauty, falling into the lake and\u00a0drowning. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">This myth was later used by Psychiatry and psychoanalysis to classify people who are extremely concerned about self-image, generally very vain, who need attention at every turn in an attempt to be always in evidence. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">All this because there is an investment of libido (psychic energy) back to his own self, that \u2013 subconsciously \u2013 end up regressing into childhood behaviors of high-browdrama and uncertainty, as if he or she\u00a0were to lose the love of people they love or suffer abandonment by parents.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>The image society<\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">The modern world revolves around show. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">The important thing is the body, the look glamorous, exciting, beautiful, flawless. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">Television, magazines, social media produce and profit from offering us this image\u00a0 of the&#8221;perfect model&#8221; and &#8220;success&#8221;, while that shows us also\u00a0references that we need to emulate them, to be &#8220;photogenic&#8221;. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">Without realizing it, you&#8217;re there, posting\u00a0a selfie with clothes like the novel, the actress &#8216; the healed body&#8221;of that model, the same haircut and a tattoo of that football player.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">An example of this phenomenon of overshoot of the image is today one of the most important items in the academies \u2013 more than their own devices \u2013 is the mirror. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">The problem is that it doesn&#8217;t show us the empty interior and the anguish of the soul, but it has revealed that behind each photo \u2013 is the biceps, PECs, glutes or just a pretty face-maybe there is a cry for help.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>The digital world and the new &#8220;Lake of narcissus&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">Just like Narcissus saw his image in the mirrored lake and fell in love with himself until the he suffered the consequences, today we have new waters which reflect and amplify an inflated image of ourselves. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">We all know someone who doesn&#8217;t miss an opportunity to show him\/herself on the internet, including to ridicule.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">The problem, however, is not the internet or social networks itself, but something is not right in person. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">Every attempt to post a new picture or receive a tanned hide the need for external acceptance to compensate for low self-esteem, is very common in narcissistic people. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">These people need help not to &#8220;drown&#8221; in the sea of digital world, to the point of losing touch with reality.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>How to tell if I&#8217;m digitally narcissistic?<\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">-Can&#8217;t be more than a day without posting personal photos in different social networks?<\/span><br \/>\n<span lang=\"en\"> -It makes me sad, depressed or anxious when my post won&#8217;t bring\u00a0me a feedback?<\/span><br \/>\n<span lang=\"en\"> -Every change I make I\u00a0direct the mirror to take a picture of myself and then I immediately post?<\/span><br \/>\n<span lang=\"en\"> -I make\u00a0an image on the internet that does not match my reality?<\/span><br \/>\n<span lang=\"en\"> -I envy and\/or angry when other people are in greater evidence than what me on the internet?<\/span><br \/>\n<span lang=\"en\"> -I often compare myself with other people and assume a position of competition in social networks?<\/span><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\">If the answer to most of the above questions is &#8220;Yes&#8221;, you might need to discuss this with a counselor.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\"><a href=\"http:\/\/formacao.cancaonova.com\/atualidade\/comportamento\/como-perceber-se-sou-narcisista-digital\/\">Portuguese Version<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Digital narcissism is a symptom that something is wrong Are\u00a0you one of those people who do not lose the opportunity of pulling out the mobile phone\u00a0and take a selfie?
