Vatican Council II, \u201cLumen Gentium\u201d teaches us that the Church has \u201cthe mission to proclaim and to spread among all peoples the Kingdom of Christ and of God and to be, on earth, the initial budding forth of that kingdom\u201d (LG 5). In other words, there is no Kingdom of God without the Church. Therefore the Church is not something dispensable, She is fundamental.<\/p>\n<p>According to Saint Augustine\u2019s words, \u201cthe Church received the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven so that She can accomplish the forgiveness of all sins through the Blood of the Christ and the Action of the Holy Spirit. Our souls were dead because of sin; even though they can now revive in the Church\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Catechism of the Catholic Church shows all the beauty, reality, mission and identity of the Church and teaches us that the Church:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is \u201ca Plan born in the Father\u2019s Heart\u201d (CCC, 759);<\/li>\n<li>Was \u201cforeshadowed from the world\u2019s beginning\u201d (CCC, 760);<\/li>\n<li>Was \u201cprepared for in the Old Covenant\u201d (CCC, 761);<\/li>\n<li>Was \u201cinstituted by Jesus Christ\u201d (CCC, 763);<\/li>\n<li>Is \u201crevealed by the Holy Spirit\u201d (CCC, 767);<\/li>\n<li>Will be \u201cperfected in glory\u201d (CCC, 769);<\/li>\n<li>Is the \u201cmystery of men\u2019s union with God\u201d (CCC, 772);<\/li>\n<li>Is \u201cthe Universal Sacrament of Salvation\u201d (CCC, 774);<\/li>\n<li>Is \u201cthe Body of Christ\u201d (CCC, 787);<\/li>\n<li>Is \u201cthe Bride of Christ\u201d (CCC, 796);<\/li>\n<li>Is \u201cthe Temple of the Holy Spirit\u201d (CCC, 797);<\/li>\n<li>Is \u201cthe People of God\u201d (CCC, 781).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All these expressions have a vast meaning and you should know them in depth.<\/p>\n<p>Some people ask: \u201cwhy do we need a Church? Is it not enough to have faith in Jesus Christ?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The answer for that question is that Jesus Himself wanted the Church as the continuation of His Redeeming Presence amidst men.
