{"id":17312,"date":"2016-02-15T01:01:13","date_gmt":"2016-02-15T06:01:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.cancaonova.com\/catholicismanew\/?p=17312"},"modified":"2016-02-10T06:58:48","modified_gmt":"2016-02-10T11:58:48","slug":"lent-time-to-renew","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.cancaonova.com\/catholicismanew\/2016\/02\/15\/lent-time-to-renew\/","title":{"rendered":"Lent: Time to Renew!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"topo-text\"><\/div>\n<article id=\"post-32919\" class=\"post-32919 post type-post status-publish format-standard has-post-thumbnail hentry category-pregacoes\">\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<h2>\u00a0<span lang=\"en\">Lent is time to return to God, time to assess our humanity and recognize that we don&#8217;t always live a coherent Christian life: our relationship with God and with our brothers and sisters. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">It&#8217;s time to devote ourselves\u00a0to prayer, fraternity and fasting. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">The Church at this time calls us to walk step by step toward the Easter of the Lord seeking to renew our baptismal commitment; <\/span><span lang=\"en\">new life in Christ, until his coming glory at the end of time.<\/span><\/h2>\n<div id=\"content-post\">\n<article id=\"post-11134\" class=\"post-11134 post type-post status-publish format-standard has-post-thumbnail hentry category-mensagem\">\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11107\" src=\"http:\/\/img.cancaonova.com\/cnimages\/especiais\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2016\/02\/o-senhor-faz-por-nos-maravilhas.jpg\" alt=\"o-senhor-faz-por-nos-maravilhas\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1200\" \/><span lang=\"en\">Jesus our master guides us to live the three special practices of lent and how to do it:<\/span><br \/>\n<span lang=\"en\">1. Almsgiving\u00a0\u2013 &#8220;When you give\u00a0alms, do not let your left hand know<\/span><br \/>\n<span lang=\"en\">what your right hand is doing so that your Almsgiving stay hidden. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">And your father who sees what is hidden, will give you the reward &#8220;.<\/span><br \/>\n<span lang=\"en\">2. Prayer-&#8220;When you PRAY, go into your room, close the door and pray to your father who is hidden. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">And your father who sees what is hidden, will give you the reward &#8220;.<\/span><br \/>\n<span lang=\"en\">3. Fasting \u2013 &#8220;You, when YOU\u00a0FAST, perfume your head and wash your face, so that men do not see that you are fasting, but only your father, who is hidden. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">And your father who sees what is hidden, will give you the reward. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">(Mt 6, 3.4.6.17.18)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">As believers we are invited to approach the Holy ashes reminding us of the fragility of our humanity, and sign of penance, because God says: &#8220;Because you are dust and to dust you will return&#8221; (cf.
