{"id":17433,"date":"2016-04-27T01:01:56","date_gmt":"2016-04-27T06:01:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.cancaonova.com\/catholicismanew\/?p=17433"},"modified":"2016-04-25T10:47:03","modified_gmt":"2016-04-25T15:47:03","slug":"how-to-overcome-temptations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.cancaonova.com\/catholicismanew\/2016\/04\/27\/how-to-overcome-temptations\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Overcome Temptations"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Is It Possible to Overcome Temptations?<\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">The meditated Word is in <\/span><strong><span lang=\"en\">Saint Luke 4:13-14:<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong><em><span lang=\"en\">&#8220;Ending all the temptations, the devil went away until an opportune time. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">Jesus returned to Galilee, with the power of the spirit, and his fame spread throughout the region. &#8220;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-38348\" src=\"http:\/\/img.cancaonova.com\/cnimages\/canais\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/03\/10032016_Sorrindo-pra-Vida.jpg\" alt=\"Como vencer as tenta\u00e7\u00f5es?\" width=\"600\" height=\"350\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">We defeat evil when we are united to God. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">Without Him we will be defeated by the enemy. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">Each time we lift ourselves out of a temptation in which we usually fall, The Lord conquers\u00a0in us! <\/span><span lang=\"en\">Victory happens when we get up\u00a0and put ourselves back on the road.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Do not give place to the enemy of God<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">In time of weakness, the demon approaches us to destroy us. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">We&#8217;re feeling weak? <\/span><span lang=\"en\">Trust God and so we will defeat the evil temptations. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">With the Holy Spirit we receive the strength to overcome the evil one.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">When we give way to temptation in our lives, we take ourselves from the presence of God in our heart. Are\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en\">we guided by the Father or by the enemy of God. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">What&#8217;s our choice?<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Our vocation is in giving<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">Whoever allows the Holy Spirit to lead him or her has attitudes moved\u00a0by Him. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">Evangelism happens through the vocation received from God. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">What is the call he\u00a0gave\u00a0us? <\/span><span lang=\"en\">Being a father, being a mother, being a priest or one consecrated?<\/span><span lang=\"en\">Whatever our calling, let us be guided by the Holy Spirit of God. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">With Him giving us strength, we open our hearts to us to give ourselves to the other.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">God always reigns. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">He reigns in calamities, as He\u00a0shows us that his absence brings chaos. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">He reigns with His presence sustains our heart and He send us the Holy Spirit to give us strength.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>How to receive this High power?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">Jesus prayed, the sky open\u00a0and the Holy Spirit descended upon him. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">Mary and the Apostles, gathered in the upper room, United in one heart and persevering in prayer, they received the power from on high.\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en\">Prayer is essential to receive the Holy Spirit of God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">In the face of our persistent prayer, God promises and gives the Holy Spirit to all those who ask him. P<\/span><span lang=\"en\">rayer does render our day! <\/span><span lang=\"en\">Pray daily calling to the\u00a0Lord: &#8220;Send us your spirit, Lord.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">A heart on the straight path also makes us receive the Paraclete Comforter. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">Do all for the glory of God and not for our personal benefits. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">Let us ask Him for a\u00a0heart on the straight path, full of mercy and compassion, so that we\u00a0do not seek honor and glory for ourselves, but we try ourselves to hide in the Lord.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">Have a heart on the straight path and prayer is the way to be powerful\u00a0in the presence\u00a0of God. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">We shall overcome our sins and temptations with great\u00a0strength.
