{"id":17782,"date":"2016-06-29T01:01:35","date_gmt":"2016-06-29T06:01:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.cancaonova.com\/catholicismanew\/?p=17782"},"modified":"2016-06-27T06:11:50","modified_gmt":"2016-06-27T11:11:50","slug":"only-free-hearts-can-follow-jesus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.cancaonova.com\/catholicismanew\/2016\/06\/29\/only-free-hearts-can-follow-jesus\/","title":{"rendered":"Only Free Hearts Can Follow Jesus"},"content":{"rendered":"<hgroup class=\"content-header\">\n<h2 class=\"entry-title\"><strong><span lang=\"en\"><a class=\"entry_author_image\" href=\"http:\/\/www.microsofttranslator.com\/bv.aspx?from=&amp;to=en&amp;a=http%3A%2F%2Fhomilia.cancaonova.com%2Fauthor%2Fpadreroger%2F\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/img.cancaonova.com\/cnimages\/canais\/authors\/12_thumb.jpg\" \/><\/a>We have the freedom to take our commitments with the heart turned on, tuned in and attached to the heart of Our God<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/hgroup>\n<div id=\"content-post\">\n<article id=\"post-24595\" class=\"post-24595 homilia type-homilia status-publish hentry\">\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p><em><span lang=\"en\">&#8220;<span lang=\"pt-PT\">Lord, let me first go and bury my father.<\/span> <\/span><span lang=\"en\"><span lang=\"pt-PT\">But Jesus answered and said to him, &#8220;follow me, and let the dead sepultem their dead&#8221;<\/span> <\/span><\/em><span lang=\"en\"><span lang=\"pt-PT\">(Matthew 8, 21-22).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">The words of the Master may seem very hard today to our hearts, but we need to take, in the spirit, the meaning of them, to teach us to live the Gospel in our lives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">The <strong>first<\/strong> thing to say: &#8220;the son of man has nowhere to lay his head.&#8221; <\/span><span lang=\"en\">When we want to follow Jesus, when we decide to be his disciples, we need to bear in mind that we do not receive financial or material compensation for it. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">Let&#8217;s get to work, strive to earn the bread by the sweat of our work, our face<\/span><span lang=\"pt-PT\"><span lang=\"en\">, our dedication, but follow Jesus doesn&#8217;t make us richer and better than others. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">No way! <\/span><span lang=\"en\">Often, He makes us poor and dispossessed, because so was the master.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"pt-PT\"><span lang=\"en\">The master is saying that He didn&#8217;t have anywhere to lay His head: <\/span><em><span lang=\"en\">&#8220;Foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of Man has no where to lay His head.<\/span><span lang=\"en\">\u00a0&#8220;<\/span><\/em><span lang=\"en\"> (Matthew 8.20). <\/span><span lang=\"en\">Who wants to follow Jesus must have a sense of dispossession.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"pt-PT\"><span lang=\"en\">&#8220;Simplicity&#8221; does not mean living a life devoid or directionless, without insight or wisdom. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">But\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"pt-PT\"><span lang=\"en\">know how to live , know how to live in the time of plenty, but also the difficulties and knowing how to live with or without anything, God is blessing us. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">Never translate blessing as possession, with having too much or with plenty. <\/span><\/span><span lang=\"en\">Blessing is being in God&#8217;s grace, having the heart in God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"pt-PT\"><span lang=\"en\">The <strong>second<\/strong> very important thing is that the one who wanted to follow Jesus offers an \u00a0an excuse:<em> &#8220;Let me first go and bury my father.&#8221;<\/em> <\/span><span lang=\"en\">We&#8217;re making excuses for\u00a0not putting our hands to the plow, not committing ourselves to\u00a0the Kingdom of God and making it happen. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">The apology will blame growing inside us.<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"pt-PT\"><span lang=\"en\">If you need to take care of your\u00a0father, mother or anyone else, follow Jesus when taking care of them. Be a disciple of Jesus in what you have to do, just don&#8217;t make excuses for your lack of commitment. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">It may be that what you put up an excuse, you go first there, and you do not leave it to follow Christ, to fulfill His mission.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">God wants us to have a free heart, because only the free hearts can follow him. <\/span><span lang=\"en\">And &#8220;free&#8221; doesn&#8217;t mean we don&#8217;t have any commitments or responsibilities, but the freedom to assume our commitments with the heart turned on, tuned in and attached to the heart of our God!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">God bless you!<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_22712\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<footer id=\"autor_info\" class=\"entry-utility\">\n<figure class=\"entry-thumb\"><\/figure>\n<div class=\"entry-bloco\">\n<h2 class=\"entry-title\">Fr.
