Although already I have visited other countries, I had not touched the reality of traveling alone to a placer where the language was totally different. But the expectation was immense, the desire of bringing God. Nossa…[Nossa-An expression meaning Wow!]

I arrived at the Charlotte North Carolina Airport and there made the connection to Atlanta. After all I’ve heard of immigration my fear was great…but I everything was OK. Afterwards, when I arrived at the Atlanta Airport that more appeared to be a city…I had to take a train…think…it is not a train like in Minas Gerais, but a transport train. Afterwards in my mind I only had “Baggage Claim” (as my brother @lucianolobo told me).

I arrived at the luggage place, I took mine and did not see @joseanocn and @lucianolobo (meeting me at the airport). I looked at the phone booth but I did not have the money to dial. and I did not know how to read the directions how to use the phone. At this time, I looked for some help and I asked someone in english: Excuse me I am from Brazil, I don’t speak English, I need to call for my friend. Phew…butterflies in my stomach, but he understood and brought out a cell phone, he made the connection for me. Do you believe this?

I kept thinking… we are strangers in this world…and many times we feel alone. But God is rich in mercy and always helps us. Do you think that God does not care for all? He does…I wanted that you may think of all that God utilizes to help you where you feel alone. It is important to think and and value this…and now with the community here from the USA I can be more in community…encountering my brothers and sisters that live as strangers in this world, for they are of heaven. People that makes the difference!

This was the first moment, so began the mission.

Thanks Guys,

Adriano Gonçalves

@adriano_rvj

translated from Portuguese

The experience of being a stranger always was something distant for me.
