Ambassador School

Gosh, has it really been over three months since I last updated my blog. I guess time flies when you are really busy.

Well, we are now in the first week of Lent and it is time to look at what we want to change in our lives that not only leads us closer to Christ but also makes us better witnesses to Christ.

Here in the United States many people promoting anti-Catholicism say that the role of the Catholic is to pay, pray and obey. That is a lie. If you are Catholic, then at your baptism, you were called to be an ambassadors for Christ. Now assuming that you were baptized as a baby, obviously, that would be a difficult thing to do then. But if you are reading this, I am assuming you are no longer a baby. (Unless you passed this blog in the midst of your work of trading stocks.)

So, you and I must be ambassadors for Christ. Be an ambassador, be a servant of Christ. How do you do that.

1. Pray-you cannot be an ambassador if you are not in daily contact with the leader of the kingdom

2. Go to mass-that is our weekly meeting as a community of faith with God and his people in our community.

3. Know the message-A famous and disgraced evangelist once admitted that after years of preaching who Jesus is, he finally read his word after his fall and when he was in prison. It was then he learned that everything he had preached about Jesus was wrong. You cannot serve Christ is you do not read his word.

a. How many US ambassadors have read the Declaration of Independence? (I would assume all of them as well as most citizens.)
How many communist leaders have read the words of Karl Marx? (I would assume most of them.)  How many Catholics have read the word of God in the bible? Here in the US we Catholics have a reputation for not reading much of the bible. I hope that is an incorrect reputation.

Be an ambassador for Christ by doing his will.

One final note: How many saints do you know of whose only accomplishment is that they did the minimum of what our faith demands? I don’t think any. So let us ask the Lord to lead us to be his ambassadors during this Lent that we can serve him well for the rest of the year.

Enjoy Lent!!!!
