From the first moment, when it was possible that Brazil would host the 2016 Olympics, the government, the entrepreneurs and many other organizations began to prepare.
There were investments on top of investments, all part of the infra-structure of stadiums, pictures, tracks, hotels in order to receive the athletes, finally all that was necessary in order that the olympi cmay happen with efficiency.
Today, I ask, How are we Christians preparing for the second and definitive coming of Our Lord Jesus? In what are we investing?
The Glorious coming of Jesus is certain, as He himself says: “Immediately after the distress of those days ‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. (Mt 24:29-31 NIV)
Unfortunately, already, this is not talked about. We cannot act as if all is normal, and allow ourselves to be guided by the things of this world. As New Song Community Founder and my spiritual father, Monsignor Jonas, always says, “The New Song Community was created by God to prepare people for the the glorious coming of Our Lord Jesus.”
I am not saying that it is not important to prepare for the olympics, because this will also give rise to new opportunities of jobs and investments for [Brazil]. Therefore, we cannot forget that in this world all passes and there is a Heaven prepared by Jesus and that is our hope.
If Jesus does not come, we are going to Him, or that is until His coming, we are going to pass through this life for others.
We are attentive to the happenings and signs of the times. We ask the Lord for the spiritual vision of these things. We may live each day as if it were our the last, not with fear, but with hope of contemplating new Heavens and new Earth.
Pray and watch, because the hour in which the Lord will come, is known only to the Father. (cf: Mt 24:36)
