My House Is a House of Prayer

Luke 19: 45-48

Then Jesus entered the temple area and proceeded to drive out those who were selling things, saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves.'” And every day he was teaching in the temple area. The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people, meanwhile, were seeking to put him to death, but they could find no way to accomplish their purpose because all the people were hanging on his words.

Word of the Lord

Sharing the word

Today Jesus invites us a great hurdle in our interior house that is our heart. We are temples where God lives and nothing that can cloud His presence can remain in our heart. All these traders that want to mess with the house of God need to be expelled from our heart.

But how do we do this?

The first thing that we have to do is to take conscience of how are heart is, who are these traders that today have taken control of the house of God as: prejudice, anger, refusing to forgive, sadness, hopelessness… then all that is against the will of God in our life. They are traders thieves and they need to be expelled.

After we take conscience of all this, is it is time for cleaning: repent, renounce and desire to have a house completely clean, look to the sacrament of our healing and liberation that is confession. With this our heart will return to be the house of prayer, temple where God lives and with certainty when we hear Jesus speak to us across the word, we remain marveled, fascinated and filled with strength and courage to fight in order that the traders do not return to our temple.

We assume and we profess with gestures and words this truth: My house is a house of prayer.
