How do we get rid of an impertinent person? Avoid him/her. How can we get rid of bad spiritual forces? Pray against them. Our prayers are like arrows that keep the enemy away. Although our problems and our struggles may be more common, we need to learn to confront them with God and with divine force. This is what the Holy Spirit reveals to us: “Because although we live in the flesh, we do not battle according to the flesh. No we do not battle with weapons of flesh. but with weapons that are powerful in God, capable of destroying fortifications. (cf 2 Cor 10:3-4)

We should not give up the fight. It is stupid to turn our backs to our enemy that does not hesitate to stab us. Beforehand, we should ask the Spirit to act in the same way with  us the as He did with Jesus when He brought Him to the desert in order to confront and conquer the tempter that lurked there. (cf Mt 4:1) Driven by the Spirit Jesus freed himself from the Evil one and now can also free us from the Power of Satan. The Holy Spirit that drove Jesus into the fight and brought him to defeat the enemy is the same that is now at our side, as the Psalmist said to “train our hands for combat and our fingers for war.” (cf Ps 144:1)

The medium most necessary and sure in order to have the victory in this fight is to turn to God with humility and trust. We should surround ourselves with the Spirit and with trust. God will come to our help. If we cry out: “Oh God come to my assistance. O Lord, make haste to help me.” (Sl 70:2), said Saint Alphonsus of Liguori that this prayer is enough for us to overcome the assaults of the assaults of all the demons of Hell, because God is infinitely stronger than all of them.
