US Bishops Publish Website for Support of Marriage

Baltimore, MD–The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops announced today a new resource for dioceses in defense of Marriage. http://www.marriageuniqueforareason.org/ Set up by the sub-comittee for the defense of marriage of the USCCB,  is a resource for dioceses and pastors among others in support of marriage between a man and a woman. Bishops Kevin Rhodes of Fort Wayne-South Bend, Indiana and Bishop Salvatore Cordileone of Oakland, California   addressed their work in supporting marriage this first day of the general assembly of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Bishop Rhoades made it clear in his talk that the best defense of marriage is support for husbands and wives in building up their marriages

The United States continues to promote what is termed gay marriage since the Supreme Judicial Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts declared gay marriage the law of land in that New England state in May of 2004.

Recently, the Obama administration backed off defending the Defense of Marriage Act signed into law during the Administration of President Bill Clinton, his wife Hillary is currently the US Secretary of State.

The new website focuses on four themes: Sexual Difference, Children, the Common Good, Religious Liberty and in Spanish La Familia (The Family) and includes a blog, videos, faqs and other resources in support of marriage between a man and a woman.
