We Should Not Flee from Who We Are

Days back, I went to the cinema to see an old film that spoke a lot to me. “The Lion King”. It presented the personage of Simba who saw his father–the King–killed defending him from a dangerous situation. Accused by an evil uncle, he felt guilty for the death of the father, and was advised to flee and never more to return.

The young Lion fled to a place where he could grow and forget his problems – And there he had 2 little friends, and they said to him: “Hakuna matata”, which says [Do not worry]There he remained in hiding from his truth and forgot who he was. Until the moment that a wise man made him confront himself. In this moment the voice of his father spoke to him from inside. “You forgot me, because you forget who you are.

Simba was the prince and should assume his origin of King, he experienced a large interior conflict. But this situation brought him to react. Assuming who he really was, he returned and claimed the reign from the evil uncle.

We cannot flee from our truths, we can try to isolate ourselves, to put our problems in suspension, but inside of us there will always be something to poke us, a voice of our conscience seeking our originality and authenticity We should return to our “Reign” and take the post that belongs to us. We are princes, we are sons of the King.
