Year of the Faith 2013 and WYD Opportunities to Renew the Faith

On the last day of the year, many people stopped to reflect and think of what they could do to improve their lives next year. For Catholic Christians, this is always a moment of renewing the faith, in 2013 there will be two great helps to this work: the continuation of the Year of the Faith and the Word Youth Day.
Proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI and initiated on October 11, 2012, the Year of the Faith proposes to the faithful of the whole world a true rediscovery of the faith, which has been done with care through the clergy and religious of the whole world.

The Archbishop of Caracas, Cardinal Jorge Urosa Savino, published a message of the End of the Year directed to all Venezuelans. He began the text remembering well the invitation of the Holy Father to celebrate the Year of the Faith. “That the Catholic faith may be lived in the secularized world[ that is] indifferent and at times contrary to God, ” wrote the Cardinal in the message.

And in this context of the renewal of the Catholic faith, World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro will be one of two great events of 2013, that is going to help youth of the entire world in this mission. In an article published Sunday, December 30th, the Archbishop of Rio de Janeiro, Archbishop Orani João Tempesta, stressed that, among so much legacy already expressed in great events, WYD will have no comparison. “It will leave the presence of a God of Love in the hearts of the youth heralds of the dawn and announcers of a new world.”

Bishop Orani, emphasized that 2013 will be the Year of the Youth. :Dear young people: Next year is for you. (…) Be excited to live with intensity WYD Rio 2013 and let’s go testifying of the child God born of Most Holy Mary to save us!”
