Catholics from the Whole World Will Gather in Rio de Janeiro for World Youth Day

World Youth Day is an international event organized by the Catholic Church that unites youth from all over the world, Catholics and of other religions.

“Go and make disciples among all the nations” Mt 28:18 is the theme of WYD that happens between 23-28 of July in Rio de Janeiro.

Canção Nova Coverage

According to the Artistic director of TV Canção Nova, Gilberto Maia, the entire Canção Nova System of Communication will be engaged in the coverage of WYD. There will be around 200 people among the collaborators of the John Paul II Foundation and Canção Nova missionaries, on TV, Radio, Internet, Vocational team, in shows, etc. (Canção Nova is a portuguese language network.)

For coverage of WYD Canção Nova created mobilization with project #tamujuntojmj and an exclusive site – tamujuntojmj.cancaonova.com for online coverage; this will concentration on information such as: video, podcast, the discourses and catechesis of the Holy Father.

The first WYD was diocesan , in Rome, in 1986. Following this were the World WYD: in Buenos Aires (Argentina -1987)- with a participation of 1 million youth; in Santiago de Compostela (Spain-1989) – 600 thousand; in Czestochowa (Poland–1991) 1.5 million; in Denver (USA–1993)–500 thousand; in Manila (Philipines–1995)–4 million; in Parish (France-1997)–1 million; in Rome (Italy–2000) 2 million, in Toronto (Canada–2002)–800 thousand; in Cologne (Germany–2005)–1 million; in Sidney (Australia–2008)–500 thousand; and in Madrid (Spain–2011)–2 million
