What Is the Meaning of Our Lives?

Jesus Christ came to the world to do the will of the Father: “Behold that I come. In the scroll it is written about me: I came, o God to do your will.” (Hb 10:7) The word of God is made flesh in the womb of the Virgin Mary. Jesus is the Lamb without blemish, without stain of original sin, generated in the immaculate womb of Our Lady that offers Himself in sacrifice to do the will of God. Therefore, Jesus realized the will of the Father, first because Mary said yes to His will: “Behold, the handmaid of the Lord, may it be done to me in accordance with your will!” (Lk 1:38)

In the book of Psalms is written this of Jesus: “With pleasure I do your will, I keep your law in my heart!” (Ps 40:9). Christ was formed to do the will of the Father, to keep in His heart the law of God, through his Mother and Teacher the Most Holy Virgin. therefore if we want to do the will of God and keep in his heart the law of the Lord we need to allow ourselves to be formed by the Mary who forms through excellence. She will form us to complete well our role in our families, in our communities, in work, in society. But Our Lady also will forms us to faithfully complete the law of the Lord.

The Psalmist speaks of Christ: “When I sing of your righteousness in a great assembly, See, I do not restrain my lips; as you, LORD, know!” (cf Ps 40:10) Jesus announced the Good News, His Gospel in the first place because the Virgin Mary heard the Word of God, that was announced to her by the Angel: “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have been graced before God. Behold that  you will conceive and bear a son, whom you will name Jesus.” (Lk 1:30-31) Our Lady did not only hear the Word, but said yes to the Word and generated the Word, the Eternal Word. Mary was made servant of the word: “Behold, the handmaid of the Lord, may it be done to me in accordance with your will!” (Lk 1:38) As Jesus Christ and Our Lady, we too have been called by God to be servants of the Word of God.

Jesus came to the world to realize the will of the Lord. The Letter to the Hebrews says that “It is thanks to this will that we are sanctified by the offering of the body of Jesus Christ realized once for all.” (Hb 10:10) Thanks to the will of the Father, we are sanctified by the sacrifice of the body of the Son, what was generated in the holy, immaculate womb of the Virgin Mary. She is not only brought forth Jesus Christ, Head of the Church, but also generated each one of the members of the Body of the Lord: “The Son whom she brought forth is He whom God placed as the first-born among many brethren,(Romans 8:29) namely the faithful, in whose birth and education she cooperates with a maternal love. ” (Dogmatic Constitution Lumen Gentium 63) Our Lady not only generates Christians, but also educates them with maternal love to realize the will of God.

Thus Jesus came to the world to do the will of  the Father, to announce the Gospel and in the end of His Earthly life, He offered himself in sacrifice for our Salvation. The Virgin Mary, Mother of God, was she that cooperated most and continues to cooperate in the work of Her Son, Jesus Christ, that is realized in the Holy Spirit. The Immaculate womb of Our Lady, that generated the Son of God needs to generate each one of us, children of God through grace. Let us allow ourselves to be generated by this loving Mother, who wants to generate us to God. We learn from her to do the will of the Father, for she that educated Jesus Christ, obedient until death and death on the cross, certainly will know how  to educate us to do His will, that is the true meaning of our lives.
