The president of the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization, Archbishop Rino Fisichella, announced Wednesday the launch of a application of the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) for tablets and smartphones. The announcement was made during a press conference in the Vatican. The application will be available in a few weeks.

“We are satisfied for having launched this objective (…) that will permit more hands to have the Catechism of the Catholic Church and its Compendium,” the archbishop declared. The version will make available also the ability to consult biblical texts present in the Catechism, through the bible edited by the Italian Episcopal Conference. (CEI)

According to Bishop Fisichella, the application will be a help for those that desire to learn more on the faith transmitted through the centuries, the heritage of the doctrine and spirituality “contained in the pages of the Catechism”.

The president explained about the development of the International Congress of Catechism that will occur in the Vatican on 26-28 of September. About 1600 persons will participate from fifty countries divided into 104 delegations.

The Congress will share a reflection on the first part of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, in respect to the transmission of the faith. Methods of formation for catechists will be offered with the end of promoting the Christian Community to rediscover their faith.

In the programming after the closing of the Congress there will be pilgrimages to the tombs of the Apostles and catechesis with 14 bishops of different languages. On the 29th Pope Francis will preside over the Celebration of the Eucharist at 10:30 in St. Peter’s Square, in the Vatican. They are expecting the participation of 100,000 pilgrims.
