Primacy of the Individual

We live in a society influenced by secularism that hinders God from the human situations in the world. Through the fruit of human pride, the man turns from God and loses the meaning of his ultimate end. He thinks that total freedom will be a going out to human realization through the satification of his carnal appetites, but ultimately, he is  confronted with emptiness.

Thus in our society what reigns is the primacy of the individual. Grounded in a system focused on seeking the material and pleasure that are passing goods, the man closed to God closes in on himself, walking on a path in which  he has to live all the he can in this life. All becomes an object to satisfy his appetites and his carnal and human realization. The ends justify the means.

In this primacy of the individual, love of the neighbor–altruism–is not important, but what is important is me–my ego–egoism. This egoism which impregnates the people, touches all structures of  the society, and the family directly. The spouses become an object of consuption of one by another. When the object is not longer useful it is thrown  out, and the result in marriage is separation.
