Cachoeira Paulista, SP, Brazil–9 men will be ordained to the transitional diaconate Sunday December 8th for the Canção Nova Community. Bruno Franco, Clayton Luis, Edmilson Dias, Evandro Lima, Fabiano Alberquerque. Fábio Camargos, Gevanildo Torres, Renan Féliz, Sandro Magalhães, will received the order of Deacon at the hands of Most Reverend Benito Beni Dos Santos bishop of Lorena, at 3:00 pm São Paulo time, which is 12:00 Noon Eastern Time US and 17h00 UTC. The ordination to the Diaconate is the penultimate step to priesthood and is a celebration for the whole Church.

One of the new communities, Canção Nova is a Catholic community with the charism of preparing new people for a new world based in the Gospel. The community evangelizes through live retreats all over the world, and through the various channels of the media, including television networks based in Brazil and Portugal, Internet, book, cd, dvd publishing which includes its own record label and book publishing division.

Formed in response to Pope Paul VI’s Evangelii Nuntiandi by then Salesian priest Fr. (now Monsignor) Jonas Abib, the order has grown to a world wide Catholic evangelism and teaching enterprise, with consecrated members and alliance members all over the world. The ordination will be held as part of the Hosanna Brazil retreat held yearly in Cachoeira Paulista. It will be celebrated in Portuguese.
