Submit Your Temperament to the Holy Spirit

David SM MaggioreDo not be afraid of having a bad temper, but don’t stop there. You must strive to be like Paul, becoming more like Christ, even if you have to be fierce to yourself. This does not mean getting hurt physically, but controling your temper with all your strength. God will not take into account how sucessful you were in conquering, but in how much you fought.

David had a bad temper.. The great men of God had difficult temperaments: St. Francis de Sales, Don Bosco, David, Paul etc.. So do not be discouraged; Fight!

The attitude of David in the first reading changed and became proper to those who have a changed heart. A heart that the spirit itself was modeling in time of persecution, a heart that does not hate his enemy, but forgives him. A heart shaped by the Spirit.

You need to have a heart like David; then ask the Lord for the grace of a meek and humble heart.
