The Practice of Hearing God

prayingThe important thing is to acquire the practice of hearing God. Hearing is not with ears, but with the heart. Hearing God is welcoming in the heart what He inspires. God’s answer is sowed in our heart, in the most intimate center of our being, in the deepest of ourselves, in the core of ourselves, there where He lives, where He dwells, there where He lives.
If I want to know the Lord’s response, I should find it inside, inside of myself. I have to learn to enter in my interior, searching inside of me. Not outside, not in sound, not in movement, nor in my head.
Many times, we want to resolve the things with our head, to know all with head knowledge. We need to go, really, to find, to enter in ourselves in prayer.
We know how it is good to pray, principally, in tongues, to sing in tongues, and afterward to remain in silence. What we experience not is empty silence, on the contrary, it is in full silence, a wonderful silence. A silence through which we enter inside of ourselves. It is there that the Almighty comes to sow the responses to all that we ask.
All is a question of learning to hear Him. To hear not with ears, but with the wisdom of God infused in the recesses of the heart that prays.
Your Brother,
Monsignor Jonas Abib
