Friendship: Prefiguration of God

“Friendship teaches us to overcome and changing concepts, earning a singular meaning”

If we research the meaning of the word “friendship”, we find the following definition: amicus Latin; friend,it is possibly also derived from amore; love, even if they also say that the word comes from the Greek. It is the relationship that people have affection and care for each other, have a sense of loyalty, protection, etc. We find a Bible passage that says,

Faithful friends are a sturdy shelter;
whoever finds one finds a treasure.
Faithful friends are beyond price,
no amount can balance their worth.
Faithful friends are life-saving medicine;
those who fear God will find them.
Those who fear the Lord enjoy stable friendship,
for as they are, so will their neighbors be.
New American Bible. (2011). (Revised Edition., Sir 6:14–17). Washington, DC: The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.”

Friendship carries numerous meanings, and each person defines it in a way. What makes this common feeling is love. That’s right: love! When we approach someone and start talking with him, we discover things in common, which means that we have the desire to talk further. Confidence is risen and that person, hitherto stranger, gains space in our hearts.

When you have a friend, you discover that you do need always to be smiling and happy to be loved, that even on days when your sky is cloudy, one is able to blow away the clouds and bring back the sun. I believe that friendship has a very particular meaning, the ability to make us more human, to teach us to love, to learn that it is possible to have brothers who are not blood, but in the heart. And even more: that friendship has the grace to approach God, causing often deny ourselves in favor of the other, that let us offer you a place, even when our desire is to be cherished.

Friendship teaches us to overcome and change concepts, earning a singular meaning. I believe a friendship, when it is true, tends to change people, because we have learned to love someone, his way, was earning a place in our hearts and becoming special to us. Maybe you do not know, but friends bring us closer to God.

I define friendship in a very particular way: in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow, in happiness or in pain, come rain or shine!

We do not lose the true meaning of being a friend and we have this assurance: a friend is a foreshadowing of heaven here on earth.

Fraternally,
