'King Solomon and the Iron Worker' by Christian Schussele, 1863Leaving behind the worship of God to worship whatever human being and whatever object is a tremendous idolatry!

Today, we are looking at some of the saddest pages of the Sacred Scriptures. David asked his son, Solomon, to be faithful to the Law of Our Lord God. Solomon himself, when he ascended to the throne, asked the Lord that he have be given wisdom and the Lord did not deny this request. But it was not enough for him to have wisdom, he needed to use it.

The wisdom of listening to God needs to come accompanied by the same wisdom of obeying Him. Twice, as the Word tells us: “God sees the heart of Solomon” to say to him that the king was wrong. But due to a hard heart, he did not listen to he Lord, for this same heart, many times, is inclined to do something and not change its position and follow incorrect and negative inclinations.

It is no use throwing stones at Solomon, because this is the sin that many of us commit, therefore, the life of many of us loses its way and because we know God, the Law of God, but we do that which who think. We say: “God is going to understand me!” Understand, God understands, but later we are bitter at the consequences of bad choices, of lack of discernment, of wisdom or of obedience to the Law of God.

Ah, my dear Solomon, deluded by his riches, deluded by his will to conquer kings, married many women with the objective of extending his reign and offering worship to the gods of these pagan religions of the women with whom me married. How this displeased the heart of God, idolatry displeased the heart of God!

Leaving behind the worship of God to worship whatever human being and whatever object is a tremendous idolatry! And with idolatry with flee the heart of the Lord, therefore, Solomon does not remain in blessing, nor in grace, because he was unfaithful to the Covenant of the Lord in his heart.

That God may free us from this evil, that God may pardon this negligence and infidelidity! Do not permit Lord that our heart may faith through infidelity to Your Laws. That you and I may know with all the falls that we already have in our life, to soften this head and to stop being hard headed. Overall, that we may have a heart that hears the will of the Lord.

God bless you!
