Sin leads us away from God and causes us to move away from Him

“Adam and his wife hid themselves from the Lord God among the trees of the garden” (Genesis 3: 8).
My dear brothers and sisters, when we meditate on the Word of God in Chapter 3 of the book of Genesis, we better understand the origin of evil, which is the origin of sin in human life with all the consequences and disasters it causes in us.

The serpent is the symbol of temptation and evil. He is cunning, quiet and calm at first. When it can, it attacks us and hits us with its venom. We know that the snake venom is really dangerous, if we  do not purify ourselves from it, it will lead us to death. So, astutely, the serpent comes to the woman to offer the fruit of the tree which God had forbidden her to eat.

The malice of evil comes on us first, and creates questions in our hearts for disobeying God, doubting His Word and interpreting in a “light”  form of what God said. when He said, “No,” it is not quite “No! “. This snake artfully and maliciously reaches to the heart of a woman making her another proposal and offering her other things. The sin, temptation, never comes in our life as a negative thing. It is always a disfigurement of what is real, it is the evil that is coated well, it is the error that appears as something correct.  It’s always a whole illusion of any form of sin. The temptation has the goal to cheat us and get us out of the heart of God.

Often, we are snakes in the lives of others and even put ourselves above God to make them proposals to deceive and to cheat, and to look like we are one thing, when deep down we are another. Such as whenever we say to them, “Do not be silly!    Whatever you will do will be good. “ Thus, people deceive themselves and end up delivering themselves to daydreams, the passions, illusions, to sin and to what is wrong, believing that they are finally freed and have found the reason to live. Later, the price paid is too high, not because God punishes us, but because sin in itself already has its price and its consequences.

Adam and Eve hide from God, ashamed. How many times do we also hide from him and we ignore this because the sins pile up on us! We often become sinful to the point it becomes normal and common, and no longer do we have awareness of what it provokes in us. Thus, we are no longer able to enter into encounter with God and His Word for us to improve. Sin separates us and leads us to hide from the Lord.

In Heaven, the eyes of Eve and Adam opened, they lost innocence and began to see the evil they did not know. Young children are happy, they cry when they are contradicted, but do not know the wickedness of the world. And when their  eyes began to open, other desires became part of their heart. And so it is with us as we open our minds not for truth, but for what the world presents to us as illusion, as deception and seduction; when wickedness and other desires come into our souls.

The first cause of sin is disobedience to God, which means to live the opposite of what He teaches us and live the way that the world teaches us.

May God deliver us and open our eyes in order to see the evil that the world has given to us and also may we anticipate the good, the truth and the love of God. May we have no more shame and no longer flee from God.

God bless you!
