Seminarian Among Writers on Catholicism Anew One of 7 Men to be Ordained Deacon December 20th

AdemirCachoeira Paulista, SP, Brazil–Ademir Costa, a seminarian for the Canção Nova Community and the Diocese of Lorena whose writings have appeared on these pages, will be ordained a transitional deacon on December 20th. Costa has written many inspirational writings as he goes through seminary. He joins seven classmates who likewise will be so ordained. His Excellency João Ignacio Müller, O.F.M. the Bishop of the Brazilian diocese of Lorena in the State of Sao Paulo will preside and confer the Sacrament of Holy Orders.

Deacon Candidate Costa, blogged over the years at Diário de um Consagrado (Diary of a Consecrated Man) for much of his seminary experience. His last entry, however, was in February of this year as he prepares for the Diaconate.

The ordination mass will happen at 4:00pm Sao Paulo time which is 1:00pm New York time and will be transmitted via the Canção Nova TV Network, throughout Brazil and different part of the world. It will be available online at tv.cancaonova.com as is all Canção Nova programming.

Canção Nova which received official Pontifical Recognition in 2007 under the Pope Benedict XVI is a Brazilian Catholic community based in Cachoeira Paulista, Brazil about 45 minutes outside of Aparecida, Brazil and the Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida. It is also almost exactly in between both Sao Paulo and Rio De Janeiro. The community was formed by Monsignor Jonas Abib with the assistance of Luzia Santiago and her husband known as Eto to form Catholics and prepare them for encountering Christ. The charism they offer is to evangelize through the media of social communication and through live retreats.
