We have forgiveness as a burden, as something impossible to live. It is the enemy that gives rise to this thought in our mind. He makes us keeping rages, grudges, hard feelings … This is the tactic that he uses to finish with our family, our group and our community.
We are unable to imagine the damage that the lack of forgiveness does. Unfortunately, we end up keeping the evil that people do to us, within us.
The resentment the unforgiveness is like rust eating away at us and when we realize it, we are taken over by it.However, when we forgive, God even fills our heart with his love and we experience the peace that we seek.
St. Paul teaches us in his letter: “Don’t let the Sun on your resentment” (Eph 4.26).
We’re all fragile. If we acknowledged and assume our limitations, it would be easier to forgive the other and understand his or her weaknesses. So, don’t be afraid to talk to Jesus of your difficulty to forgive, of how hard it is for you to admit that your are able to make the same mistakes and failures of others. The Lord knows your heart, but waits for you to talk about and admit your difficulties. We must be true when we are speaking with God.
