God wants us to be merciful as he is with his children
God wants to save everyone. He sent his son to not condemn those who are being instruments of the enemy, but to save them. Just like a mother teaches sons examples so that they learn, God offers us his word, all the teachings of the Bible.

In the word of God not only are there laws and commandments, but there is the teaching of salvation. This is how the Lord loves us, and he’s totally provident. We need to be the same way for people, as Merciful Jesus.
Be merciful with those who sin.
