Our Actions Demonstrate that We Are Followers of Christ

Our actions, gestures and attitudes must translate what we believe and our belief, must demonstrate to the world that we are followers of Christ Jesus

Mafra34

He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a large crowd joined the Lord “(At 11, 24).

The Apostle Barnabas, a saint was at the beginning of the early community. The acts of the Apostles recounts him as the companion of Paul and mentioned how he was a key player in evangelism in the early Church.

Paul was present in Antioch, where, for the first time, the followers of Jesus were called Christians.

It’s interesting that people start calling us by what they see in us, because what they see in characterizes us as who we are. There were not Christians dominating Christians; they gave the testimony of Jesus, and so began to be recognized. Being a Christian is to have Christ in the heart, in the works and acts.

The testimony of Barnabas, in all the churches who walked in his time, were uplifting, so everyone saw in him the person of Christ. The Word also tells us that he was a good man.

Kindness and generosity are features of any person follower of Christ. The Christian does not exude malice, does not do evil to his neighbor. By contrast, he or she exudes generosity, hospitality, care, tenderness and mercy for the neighbor.

Barnabas was filled with the Holy Spirit. The Paraclete exuded through him in his words, attitudes and everything. A man open to the grace of the spirit, dedicated to the life of prayer, so he was an instrument used by God to spread the Gospel.

God wants us to be his instruments in use for your Word reaches all corners. But before the word get so spread and proclaimed, it  must first be offered through witness.

Our actions, gestures and attitudes must translate what we believe and we must demonstrate to the world that we are followers of Christ Jesus!

The audacity of life of St. Barnabas is for us an impulse to bring the forth Kingdom of heaven and proclaim the nearness of God through our lives.

God bless you!
