Everything passes first through God is sanctified; otherwise, it’s a mere human act which brings just relief and human accommodation. The real forgiving and being forgiven generates new life and communion of hearts.
An example is Jesus who lives always reconciled. He was crucified, but reconciled with man, as food in the Eucharist. From the top of the cross He says, “forgive them, for they know not what they do”.
