If We Do Not Bear Witness to Christ, We Deny Him

If we do not witness Christ, how will they know that we are Christians?

Nao testemunhar Cristo e nega-lo

“Everyone who witnesses for me before men, I also plead for him before my father that is in Heaven; but everyone who denies me before men, I also deny before my father “ (Mt 10.32 -33).

These words are very serious and blunt. On the one hand, they bring us a great comfort, because the simple fact is that we give witness to Jesus in this life, on this earth, before men, already gives us the right to have him as a witness before God Father. However, on the other hand,it will be terrible not to confess him as Lord.

You could say: “I didn’t deny Jesus, and I’m sure I’m not going to deny Him.” Deny, here, is in opposition to be a witness. So whoever didn’t witness for Him turns out to deny Him.

If you are called to a court, if you know that somebody is innocent and have proof of that, if only you can declare the word that will save him. If only you can make sure he won’t be convicted and you don’t do that, you’re condemning that person. The same happens with the Lord. He needs and wants your testimony. It’s the only witness, to talk about  him and what he did in your life. So that we can witness to whom can be saved and freed from condemnation.

You might ask: “what am I going to say? What I’m going to testify? I’m not a preacher nor do I have the gift of the gab “. Will you do what a witness does: are you going to tell what you saw and heard. More: will you narrate what and how it happened with you. That’s just it! You don’t have to be a preacher, nor have the gift of the gab. Simply tell what the Lord Jesus has done in your  life, giving testimony of him. Be assured that this is the best service you can render to him.
