Love leads to holiness

The recipe for holiness is love.

It is God’s will that we be holy. He himself reveals to us: “For I am the Lord your God. Sanctify yourselves and be holy, for I am holy “(Lev. 11.44).

When a doctor of the law asked Jesus about the greatest commandment, He used a passage from the book of Deuteronomy to respond: ” You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might (Dt 6,5). He added: “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself” (Mt 22:39).

The recipe for holiness is the love that is realized through concrete attitudes. In addition to showing us that this is the way to holiness and that love is made through concrete actions, Jesus tells us that we will be judged by love. He says: what we do or fail to do in concrete gestures of love is to Him that we do or not do.

At this trial, we will either receive the maximum prize or the maximum penalty. He wants our holiness. Therefore, give us an order: “Be holy, for I am holy.”
