Surrounded by many faithful, prayer and expressions of care, Pope Benedict XVI prayed this past Sunday the last Angelus of his pontificate. The Holy Father thanked all for the prayers received and for the affection of the faithful.

In his words before the Marian prayer, Benedict XVI said that God called him to “Go up the mountain”, to dedicate himself more to prayer and meditation. This, therefore, conforms he stressed, not to abandoning the Church.

“God asked me this it is so that I can continue to serve [the Church] with the same dedication and the same love with which I have sought to do it up to now, but in a way more adequate to my age and my strength,” he said.
