The Lord looks at us with great mercy and love. He knows that we are suffering people, stepped on by Satan as if we were mud. He knows that the enemy of God has subjected us to his infamous and dirty work.
Perhaps, exactly for being so stepped on by him, we think that the life may be this way, without the joy of feeling the love of God, always with a sensation of being rejected, forgotten and marginalized, judged accused and condemned. We are accustomed to this way in this life of spiritual misery that this appears something normal.
The evil one so stressed the negative that he puts our eyes toward errors, dirt, infidelities, sins making us sink into the mud of an unreal and non-existent past. He makes the question of acting this way.
But the Lord, pities His children and does not want us to suffer in this way. Jesus in in our midst feeling grieved. He is not about feeling sorry as much as feeling our pain.
