The Word Cures Our Heart

A meditation on 1 Corinthians 15:1-22

How many times have you heard the Word of God? St Paul, in today’s passage, tells us: “Remember the gospel I preached to you.”

How many wounds does this day bring us? But through Jesus we are saved and healed. It is through the Gospel proclaimed that we are redeemed. This is, in its entirety, witnessed and proclaimed to what is true that penetrates our souls, heal our wounds.

The Word of God is for us a replenishment. Through the Gospel and from the Holy Spirit, we have strength in our daily lives. My brothers, we must have contact with the Word of the Lord. Paul conveyed what he lived with Christ, because he had a personal encounter with the Risen One. When Jesus appeared after the resurrection it was for them to believe with the eyes of faith.

Amidst a time of bad news when the media presents us angst, anxiety and sadness; when we have problems and sufferings in our home, we must believe that Jesus was resurrected, and through this Gospel, we are saved, we are healed. Our faith is based on testimonies of people who have experienced the Resurrection of Christ.

God is telling you that He is alive. Take hold of the Gospel which was announced today, as it is for those who are unworthy; like Paul, a persecutor who became persecuted, but it was one of the pillars of the Church, capable of giving his life for the Gospel. If we are talking about the Gospel, it was thanks to Peter and Paul.

St Paul has not stopped at barriers, but cleared the way for evangelizing. My brother, do not stop in difficulties, in suffering and humiliation. Paul went ahead and announced who was needed. People are going cold and hungry; then, do good to those in need, do not stop in their suffering, but meets the other.

Open the window of your heart and let Jesus enter; believe that healing will come in God’s time. And when you open your heart to Him, the bad news of life will no longer will shake you.

Because of the gospel you are saved. He heal your heart! Do not keep it to yourself, because people need to hear this word. Be the presence of Christ in the lives of people with prayer and concrete gestures.
