We Consecrate Our Family to the Virgin Mary

marysantissimo Our Lady is Mother of the Church and of each of us. She received Jesus at the foot of the Cross, every Christian as a child. But above all she is protective of families. Our mother cared for the Holy Family of Nazareth.

Nobody knows more than the Virgin Mary how to console the suffering mothers, abandoned and betrayed women, parents upset by the problems of their children.

The Church teaches that the family is the fundamental unit of society, desired and designed by God to be the “sanctuary of life” as John Paul II said; but today the family is greatly threatened by a group of immoral practices that contradict the will and law of God: abortion, euthanasia, drugs, liquor, manipulation of human embryos, marriage of persons of the same sex, fake families, divorce, marriages without marriage, “free love”, and many other evils. Who will save the family of miseries and sorrows? The Virgin Mary.

More than ever today parents need daily consecration to Mary; and consecrate your children, your marriage, your job, your home. There are many miseries which now enter the home bringing sin, bad behaviors, addictions, pornography, etc.. Mary is the one who, from the very beginning received from God the power and mission to crush the head of Satan. She is the comforter of the afflicted, Help of Christians, our lawyer.

The home must urgently be protected by one who God chose for his Mother Every Christian family must now pray the holy Rosary of Our Lady devoutly contemplating the sacred mysteries of Jesus’ life. “Family that prays together stays together”; is the ancient teaching of the Church. The Rosary of Our Lady is the chain with which she holds the spirit of evil that wants to destroy families.

Pope Leo XIII said in his encyclical “Magnae Dei Matris” (December 8, 1892): “Nobody knows and comprehends so well as she everything that concerns us: what helps we need in life; what dangers, public or private, threaten our welfare; what difficulties and evils surround us; above all, how fierce is the fight we wage with ruthless enemies of our salvation. In these and in all other troubles of life her power is most far-reaching. Her desire to use it is most ardent to bring consolation, strength, and help of every kind to children who are dear to her.

The Second Vatican Council spoke of the spiritual maternity of Mary andsaid: “By her maternal charity, she cares for the brethren of her Son, who still journey on earth surrounded by dangers and cultics, until they are led into the happiness of their true home.” (LG, n 62.).

St. Alphonsus Liguori, Doctor of the Church, in his classic “Glories of Mary,” says: “God wants that through Mary all graces come in … None of  this is contrary to sound theology. For Augustine, the author of this proposition establishes as a sentence, generally accepted that Mary has cooperated by her charity for the spiritual birth of all members of the Church. “ o_socorro_de_maria_nova_capa

Many saints have spoken of this mediation of Mary with God. St. Bernard, Doctor of the Church, thus says: “Such is the will of God that we wanted everything for Mary. If, therefore, we have some hope, some free, some salutary gift, know that it comes in through your hands. “

St. Bernardine of Siena, said: “All virtues gifts and graces of the Holy Spirit are distributed through Mary, to whom she wants, when he wants, how she wants, and how much she wants.” St. Bonaventure (1218-1274), bishop and doctor of the Church, taught that “God has placed the plenitude of all good in Mary, so that we  many know that all we have to hope, grace and salvation, it derives to us.”

St. Robert Bellarmine (1542-1621), bishop and doctor of the Church, taught us that: “All gifts, all spiritual graces for Christ, as head, down to the body, pass through Mary that is like the lap of this mystical body.”

There are many ways for a family to devote to Our Lady and to live under her protection. St. Louis de Montfort, in his “Treatise of True Devotion to Mary” teaches us to “do everything through Mary, with Mary, in Mary and for Mary.”

Consecrated to Mary the family does not cease to pray the Rosary, to imitate her virtues, to implore her protection, to celebrate her liturgical feasts, to worship her images and fulfilling as she asked: “Do whatever She tells you.”
