Together We Are Going to Rescue the Youth for God

As regular readers of this blog know, most of the material here originates in Brazil, including the words of Monsignor Jonas Abib. Below he is speaking to the members of Brazilian readers of his words about his mission to evangelize the youth of Brazil. If you take these words yourself, you can see the call we have to evangelize the youth of our communities.Have you been called to this mission? ed.

13944621265_0e528ee967_zMy field of work is rescuing millions of youth for God. I am crying out with my spiritual father, St. John Bosco: “Give me souls and remain with the rest!” Domingo Savio heard this phrase in the square in Latin and he did not understand it, he asked St. John Bosco to translate it for him. Domingo Sávio saw that it was a form of “negotiating of souls” and said to God “I am the first, as the tailor works on the fabric, I want to be the first. I am in His hands, as the fabric, and the Lord is the Tailor.”

God spoke to my heart and now, I have a tremendous responsibility of rescuing the youth for the Lord. I do not know how many I am going to get to bring to the Lord, I do not know how many I am going to turn into saints, as St. Francis and St Clare, with the announcing of the Gospel. But I know that I have a great field of mission to evangelize millions of youth in Brazil.

I cannot rest, I need to roll up my sleeves. I know that I am not alone. Speaking with you, I know that the Lord is touch your heart so that you may help me rescue the youth for Him. I see that God gives me the grace to attract the youth. I do not have anything special, but, at the same time, I have all: Jesus

We have to leave timidity aside and want that this becomes real. That other youth, your colleagues, your parents and even your brothers can follow you because you are following Christ. That others may be able to be like you who want to be like Christ.

Together, we are going to rescue the youth for God!
