Best of JanuaryThe Christian Vision of Sex

Today’s Post, as our “Best of” January continues comes to us from February 2012, Enjoy: Remember that our new posts will return February 2nd.
Keeping chastity means to make right use of the sexual faculties that God put in our body. Chastity is a correct attitude before sex, or maybe, conserving and using the forces of sex within the plans of God. Therefore, it is to perceive which is the most profound sense and exact value of sexuality. God perceives that a man would leave father and mother and join to his woman forming only one flesh. (Genesis 2:24) He having said: “It is not good for the man to be alone, I will give him an equal help.” (Genesis 2:18). The Creator blessed Noah and his sons and ordered them: “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the Earth” (Genesis 9:1)

Sex is destined, therefore, to union and growth in love, making possible the creation of a new human life. In the Christian vision, sex is not as today many want to make it, something one can use outside of divine plans. It was made for marriage and marriage was elevated to its pristine dignity by Jesus Christ, as it is clear in the Gospel. (Matthew 5:32)
