A Father's Prayer

Here I am, Lord. Again, as on the first day, here I am amazed in front of my hands full of enormous power that you gave me.

You put me between heaven and Earth to ensure Your work. You made me a little like you: Creator. You gave me a wider realm to all the kingdoms and a power that shakes the world, because You, Sir, you’re a dad, too.

That’s why I come today with hands full of a wealth that one can’t measure, still dizzy and overwhelmed, with the power that you gave me.

I Come, Father, to ask for your advice, so that I can live out, as you desire, my place in this immense love plan that is life. Counsel me to follow the true path, and, knowing it, I can recommend it without error.
Counsel me so that I will never forget that, being a man and being a dad, I’m your son, too.

Here I am, Lord, between heaven and Earth as you put. Give me hands strong enough to contain and guide, and soft enough to caress and applaud.
Give me wisdom to teach and modesty to learn. Give me tenacity to build the present and the audacity to build the future; a heart that is not so gentle it dissolves or so broad that it gets lost, nor so narrow that it becomes deformed.

Give me the knowledge to know all power and all my error, all my ability and all that I lack, all my rights and all my duties. Give me the strength to, knowing all this, be a man among men, a father to my children, and a son for you. Amen.
