What joy, when listening to them say to me: “Let us go to the house of the Lord!” (Ps 120) I has the concrete experience with this word when I prayed in the Capela do Mosteiros de São Bento [chapel of the Monasteries of St. Benedict] in Rio de Janeiro where I also participated in Holy Mass. It was a moment of grace in the presence of the Lord that brought rejoicing and joy to my heart.
I remained a time in adoration before the beginning of the celebration, I prayed the liturgy and upon meditating gave myself over to the action of the Spirit, an image came to my mind of a basket of breads being distributed one by one among persons and then there was a a command: “Multiply your breads. With yeast in the dough I will make it grow…” I continued to pray seeking to hear more of the Lord.
After some time interiorizing what the Lord spoke I was in the principle nave of the Church and before the celebration I took the reading that I was doing from the book “Serenidade e Paz pela Oração” [Serenity and Peace through Prayer] by Bishop Rafael Llano Cifuentes and God continued to speak through the inspired pages of line after line. They words convinced me of how much I was called and chosen for a specific mission that concretized each day through my giving myself to Him through prayer that flows in the fruits of the work in the mission
That image accompanied me during the whole day and I began to think that I would be able to see it done. Later a memory came to me of a pelican that is considered so zealous she feeds her baby chick with her own blood and even her own flesh when she lacks the food to give to it. This became an [ancient] symbol of Christ himself giving his own self as food. Wow!
Would I be capable of that act, of giving myself totally for others? To be in life of another food exceeding the natural act of feeding, for an empty sack cannot stand. Therefore, I think that the giving oneself in nourishment is sustaining the other in what he most needs, thus as the body seeks the necessary nutrients and vitamins, people seek our testimony.
We have all the nutrients (gifts) and vitamins (charism) necessary only if we assume the role and live day by day our commitment of the baptized person, called to be salt and yeast in the dough. Believe that many are nourished and revigorated thus: through our testimony!
God bless you greatly on your journey
