Jesus Christ founded the Church to give Salvation to mankind through the knowledge of the truth: “you should know how to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth” (The First Letter to Timothy 3, 15). This is the reason why the Lord guaranteed Her infallibility in issues concerning the salvation of Her people, and exclusively in terms of salvation issues: in other words, the infallibility of the Church exclusively applies to doctrinal principles of faith and morals. Therefore, the message of the Gospel is not left unprotected against human manipulation, for its contents have been systematically attacked all through the centuries.

We can affirm that the Divine Revelation would have been useless without the guarantee of infallibility of the Ministry of the Church (the Pope and Bishops), because God’s Message would be distorted along the centuries and would come to us deprived of its power of salvation.

During the ceremony of presentation of the new Catechism to the people, Pope John Paul II affirmed:

“The Lord entrusted to His Church the mission of keeping the depositary of faith and She has accomplished Her Mission all through tides of times” (Fidei Depositum, Introduction).

Therefore, that is the holy mission the Lord gave to His Church: to keep untouched the depositary of faith. The Church has always done and still does that. To accomplish Her Mission, the Church created the “Holy Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith” with the responsibility of keeping the purity of the doctrine in the whole of the Catholic World. Unfortunately, this Holy Congregation is often criticized inside and outside the Church, despite its ultimate importance to the Church and to our salvation. It is especially criticized every time it is obliged to call admonish those theologians that divert from the doctrine of the Church. The Holy Spirit all through the two-thousand-year journey of the Church has confirmed this doctrine. It is worth noticing that the Pope unconditionally relies on this Congregation in matters of doctrine. During the General Assembly of the Holy Congregation on November 24, 1995, the Pope addressed its members with these words: “Your work, in many aspects difficult and demanding, is of fundamental importance to Christian life. In fact, the goal of your work is to promote the integrity and purity of faith, which are essential conditions to guarantee that men and women of modern times may find the light that leads to the pathways of salvation” [LR, # 50, 16/12/95, page 14(614)].

The mission of the Church it to allow “the truth of the Gospel to shine bright”, affirmed the Pope.

“Pope John XXII had entrusted to the Council, as its main goal, the task of preserving and presenting the precious depositary of Christian faith in the best way possible…” (FD, Introduction).

The major concern of the Church has always been keeping faithful to the Lord and preserve His legacy intact, the “depositum fidei” (the depositary of faith) or, in the words of Saint Paul to Timothy and Titus, the “health doctrine”.

Let your boyfriends learn: “Just because you love each other so much, you can not have sex!” Boy, learn: You can show all the affection to the girl you date or who you are engaged to without genitality.

Woman, do not abuse your femininity and do not want your boyfriend or boyfriend to give you “evidence”. The victim will be you!

Both: Do not make bait to attract the fish, because it follows the instinct, and the first to be caught is the bait. Do not ruin your life and your youth; Do not ruin your marriage and the one God has chosen for you.

Do not provoke the sexuality of the one whom the Lord gave you to be firm and secure in your marriage, to stand in your home. What unites a couple is not sex, it is not genitality, but love, tenderness and affection. Love each other deeply, first by dialogue, by presence, by security received, by love and fidelity.

not based on screaming; but by the power of the Holy Spirit

“Not by might nor by might, but by my Spirit, declares the Lord with all power” (Zech. 4: 6)

Often, we want to sort things out by force, at the base of it all we scream. Thus, moved by emotions, we speak, fight and curse. But our emotions betray us and hurt us. Many things we do because of our emotions, when, in fact, we should never have acted that way. We get carried away by emotion, by feeling. In general, we face the problems of marriage driven by feeling, by emotion. We spoke what we should not have said and spoiled many things.

Let your heart and your head learn this: to forgive your brother or sister, open your heart and live in love. If it is not for the Spirit, we cannot really forgive. How many parents were disappointed with their son, or daughter and put them out of the house! But it is necessary to change and not solve things like that. Many children also live in resentment and sorrow for things their parents did, but it must be said that this revolt does not come from God. People make mistakes, even good parents make mistakes.

It is necessary to live the love, do not continue being puppet of the tempter, that, coward who puts the poison of revolt in your heart. What the tempter most desires, today, is to blow up our families, and he uses us to achieve this. He looks for and places in our heads reasons to disappoint us. He wants to use us as “cannon fodder” to blow up our family.

Disappointment makes us act instinctively and do things we did not even know we could do. If it is not let out, it explodes inside. That is where we become instruments of the tempter, this can not continue. But in this situation where you are alone, God can help you. Sometimes it’s not revolt, just hurt and resentment. Many people do not have peace anymore, because they live in disappointment, they feel betrayed, they live “exploding”.

The reasons why you are resentful and sad can kill you. God wants to put an end to their wrong attitudes. It is He who is there to give you his hand. The Lord is telling you, “Open to receive my Holy Spirit,” He is giving it to you for free.

The meek of spirit are confident, deliver their own concerns to God

“Happy the meek of spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven” (Psalm 48). My brothers, this is the first beatitude. The poor in spirit are the opposite of the proud and arrogant, because they are humble and penetrate the reality of the Kingdom of God.

We perceive, brethren, how much we need change, transformation. John himself, who was the beloved disciple, was at heart a “wealth” of spirit, arriving to make a little group with the other Apostles, as if they were “the beloved” of Jesus. But he was changing, about to become the disciple of love. John became love in his own words, in his gestures, in what was and did. If John did all this change, imagine how much we also need! As our heart needs to be changed, possessed by the first beatitude!

When Jesus speaks in Kingdom of heaven, He does not refer to the realm after death, but right now. If we have a humble heart, we need to live in the Kingdom of God by the way, we need to say: “Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make our heart similar to yours”.

The Lord has patience with us, because he knows we do not change in an hour. The good is in us, but it needs to be diced and taken in “pieces”, it’s going to hurt. To change, the Lord allows humiliating situations to happen for us. At the bottom, we need our own effort and also that Christs let us be humiliated, so that we have a new heart, humble as he is.

The word of God is telling us that we are dependent on him for all,  even for a living; and our dependence is total. Therefore, if we are dependent on the Lord, we must put our trust in him.

St. Peter says: “Cast on him all your concerns, because he cares for you” (1Pt 5.7). The meek of spirit are confident, they cast their problems to God and can have peace. This is only possible, because they trust in the Lord.

Don’t let the sadness by your soul mate

Pregação com Astromar MirandaSorrows arise during life: trauma and marks, situations that we do not accept and that hurt deeply our attitude of encouragement. Sufferings that come when we least expect them: the death of someone, a disease, difficulties in family situations that sometimes disappoint us.

For some reason, sadness can appear. But you can’t give in to it. “Do not deliver thy soul to sadness, do not torment yourself in your thoughts.” The self-giving to the diseases of the soul, cause you lose the joy, peace, health, dismantle everything and everything turns into worries.

Even if you have been disappointed with love or with a great friendship, even if your family is divided or you are without any expectation of future, do not let it kill your soul.

If Christ had not risen, vain would our faith

This month we have the biggest fact of all time, the great truth that divided history to “before and after Christ”: the resurrection of Jesus. This is because, if Christ had not risen, our faith would be in vain and the Christian life would be meaningless. Christ is risen! He is really the way to God, the truth for which every human being searches. The Life we all strive for, with total quality in abundance, true to life.

The shroud of Turin shows that the Romans were vicious in the flagellation of Christ. Despite not having the custom  to give so many lashes, so the practice began and ended with the body of Jesus. He just persevered because he was a strong man. He was all bruised, in pain from head to toe. Jesus was wounded by our sins. We were all like stray sheep, each following his own path. Do we still do this today, leading our life the way that suits us. It’s not what the Father wanted, but it was for our redemption, that the Lord did put upon Him all our sins. Jesus knew what he was supporting was for our salvation.

Jesus was not a defendant, he was innocent. He was crucified for you and for me. Jesus accepted death because this was the means to save us. He took upon himself the sins of all humanity, he let the curse fall upon himself. He died for us, but also he rose for us, to make it clear that this project of the father be realized in our life. Just as Jesus was resurrected for a definitive life, we too will raise up at the last day, the Lord wants us to live the present life in this way, making sure that one day we shall resurrect with him.
Our body is still subject to sin, but we need to use all members, no more for evil, but for the sake of righteousness, because that’s why we were created.

“If Christ is in you, your body, without doubt, is destined to death because of sin, but the spirit is life because of righteousness. And if the spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, the one who raised Jesus Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies for your spirit that dwells in you “(Rm -11 8.10).

Although your body is weak, subject to sin and walks to death and corruption, if Jesus is in you, although your body is bound to the physical death, your spirit lives. The most beautiful reality is that your body also begins to experience the resurrection and the life. It becomes full of life, resurrection, and the signs that begin to appear in you, that becomes strong, brave by the power of Jesus. You stop being discouraged, a person who lives dragging through life, and you becomes a brave, fearless, kind person, who gives itself, full of courage, facing overwhelming odds, by the grace of God.

All this for what? Because of the presence of Jesus. Everyone will see your face, in your eyes, the true joy, enthusiasm, optimism, because Christ lives in you. And if the spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, the one who raised Jesus Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies for your spirit that dwells in you “(Rm 8.11). In the Valley of tears, (problems, difficulties, diseases), we will see people full of the resurrection and life. You are invited to be a transmitter of life for all those living in death.

The world needs Jesus! He is not physically with us, but we, Christians, by the power of the Holy Spirit are the source of living water to the world, as He. Jesus is the resurrection and the Life. There are a multitude of men in death, as in the vision of Ezekiel: “How parched bones scattered on the ground” (Ez 37.2). The Lord wants you to be resurrection and life for these people, to so many prodigal children who want to return home, they need to receive the embrace of the father of mercies. A person who has life and gives life to the point of saying: How Jesus is in me, how He lives in me and how I allow Him to penetrate me, I too am the resurrection and life.

To have that life we need to be in communion with the Lord, take communion the body and blood of Jesus, because “he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I shall rise on the last day” (Jo 6.54). Simply do not receive communion, but enter into intimate communion with the Lord. The Eucharist is the great means for our body, our soul and our spirit to come into communion with Jesus. How to assimilate the food we eat, and it becomes life for our body, so it happens when we enter into intimate communion with Jesus.

Raising up on the last day will be just a natural consequence of a lifetime. When our body you discard as the seed falls apart on Earth, eternal life will be on us. I always wondered why Mary Magdalene was the first to see the Lord. It wasn’t any of the Apostles. She’s the one who goes and announces to Peter and John that the Lord had risen. Mary Magdalene was chosen because she was the more determined, more determined to follow the Lord. While the Apostles went into hiding for fear of the Jews, she took her companions and, at dawn, determined, even at risk, she went to the Tomb, to express the great love she had for Jesus, because she had broken from her old life. We need to be as determined as she was!

If we stay on the fence, in “more or less” correct “neither hot nor cold,” and we’re not going anywhere. Mary Magdalene knew if she stayed in mourning, she wouldn’t want to go anywhere. My brethren, the Church wants us to live in this expectation of resurrection, because the resurrection of Jesus is the certainty of our resurrection. If we are living in the light, if we took the word of God and she takes effect in our lives, if we persevere and fight, especially in today’s world, where we are against the current, when we die, by the grace and mercy of God we shall resurrect to eternal life, eternal award, and not for conviction.

And the word of God, which attests to the resurrection of Jesus, we aim also to his glorious coming. We are between these two wonderful events, seeking in each Easter, our resurrection and new life. At the same time, we turn to the happy expectation of the coming of Jesus in glory, and we turn, every day, by the powerful action of the Holy Spirit who was given to us. You see: the same Holy Spirit,-tells us the Scriptures –, who raised Jesus from the dead, has been given to us and dwells in us, to enact in each of us the resurrection of Christ and to lead us to new life!
